You will need approximately 30 size 2 diapers. You will also need three or more colors of curling ribbon. Also you will need to purchase the small hair elastic bands that are used for small braids. Purchase a variety of toys and other items that can be tied onto the wreath. For example, teethers, pacifiers, rattles, and anything else that can be easily tied onto the wreath.
You will need to unfold the diapers. Take not that you do not completely unfold. You just unfold at the crease. Wrap the diaper around the wreath tightly and place a rubber band around the top of the diaper to hold it on the wreath. The crease should be inside the middle of the wreath, and the tops should be on the outside of the wreath. Next you will place the next diaper on the wreath, overlapping the first diaper slightly. Keep adding diapers until the wreath is completely wrapped. Take note of my pictures. This shows what it will look like before adding the gifts.
Next you will need to tie multiple strands of ribbons around the tops of the diapers. I used three colors of ribbon. Cut each piece of ribbon 1 foot long. You will tie them around the tops so the rubber bands are covered. Do this to each individual diaper. Curl all the ribbons individually. After you have curled the ribbons, you will then tie on your gifts using curling ribbon once again. The ribbons should be varying lengths from 1 foot to 1 ½ feet. Work in a clockwise pattern to tie the gifts on in even spaces. This will prevent the wreath from being lopsided. After each gift has been tied on, curl each ribbon individually. If you do not have a wreath hanger, tie a long pie of ribbon through the wreath so it can be hung from a nail.
A diaper wreath is a gift that is sure to please. It is a fun gift to make and will be useful to the mew mommy. She will want to admire it for a while before she will need to use it. Be creative, and as always have fun.
