How Did DJ AM Die?

DJ AM, 36, was found dead at his Soho apartment in New York on Friday and fans are searching the internet on how the famous DJ died.

DJ AM (real name Adam Goldstein) had an event to attend where he was supposed to get on a flight to Las Vegas. He never made the flight and a friend (who is unknown at this time) called the police department after they could not get a hold of DJ AM.

Police Offers went to the apartment where DJ AM lived. They knocked and announced themselves but got no answer. The door was then broken down and police found DJ AM in his bed, face down. He had no shirt on and was only wearing sweatpants. Prescription bottles and drug paraphernalia were close by. This came as a surprise to some fans because DJ AM was said to have been clean for 11 years after a drug addiction when he was younger.

A cause of death has not been determined yet but so far it's looking that it could be drug related. No one will know for sure until the New York City Coroner's office completes the toxicology tests.

DJ AM escaped death only a year ago when a plan he was on crashed in South Carolina. He and Travis Barker (from Blink 182 were the only two survivors). It has been rumored that he took anti anxiety medication to deal with his fear of flying that developed after the crash.

It's a tragedy that his life ended this way, especially as he escaped death before. DJ AM had hoped to do something better with his life after the tragic plane accident that left him and Travis the only survivors. Last month at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour, he said "There's no reason why I lived and they didn't. It's something that I struggle with every day, you know, kind of wondering. But I've just realized I'm never really going to know. I'm alive, and I'm here, and I have another chance. So I have to do something better with my life this time."

It makes you wonder if the plane crash haunted him and lead to his death by other means almost a year later. The trauma could have made him not make the greatest choices by taking drugs to help forget what happened the day of the plane crash.

TMZ has law enforcement officials that told TMZ that his death is being ruled as an accidental overdose and not a suicide. The source also told TMZ that DJ AM had not been abusing drugs that long before his death. Some of the prescription meds that were prescribed to him could have made him more susceptible to starting illegal drugs as he was a former addict.

DJ AM's last message on Twitter was "New york, new york. Big city of dreams, but everything in new york ain't always what it seems" from an old song. What was DJ AM thinking before his death? We'll never know but I hope the man can now rest in peace.
