The question circulating right now is how did Gary Coleman die? While it has surprised many past and present fans to hear of his death, Gary was no stranger to health problems. Just this year alone he was hospitalized twice after having seizures.
Earlier this week Gary was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo Utah. Gary He had suffered a brain hemorrhage that put him into a coma. The details are still unclear but it's said that Gary fell and hit his head, which led to all of this happening. While in the coma, he was on life support. He was admitted on a Wednesday and his condition got worse and worse as the hours passed. His family had to make the difficult decision of whether to keep him on or off life support and in the end they decided he would be better off passing away in peace as the machine was the only thing keeping him alive.
Coleman's manager, John Alcantar, released the following statement hours after Gary was first admitted to the hospital: "As of mid-morning on May 27, Mr. Coleman was conscious and lucid. By early afternoon, Mr. Coleman was slipping in and out of consciousness and his condition worsened. ... We are saddened to announce that since mid-afternoon, Mountain Time, on May 27, 2010, Mr. Coleman has been unconscious and on life support."
Coleman had currently lived in Santaquin, Utah. Heath problems were no stranger to Gary. By the time he was 14, he had undergone two kidney transplants because he had been born with failed kidneys. His height never past 4 feet 8 inches because the dialysis medications he had to take as a child stunted his growth and did not allow him to grow taller.
Gary Coleman was 10 years old when he started filming the TV series Diff'rent Strokes in 1978. The show lasted 8 years and ended in 1986.
He married 22 year old Shannon Price on August 28th 2007. It was a secret ceremony with no media present. He met her on the set of a comedy movie called Church Ball. Though they had their differences (even appearing on Divorce Court in order to save, not end their marriage), they remained married up to his death.
Gary Coleman leaves behind his wife and his parents (who adopted him when he was 4 days old).
