How to Disable System Sounds to Increase Speed on Your Computer

C. O.
You know those sounds your computer can make when your download has finished or the sound effects a messenger can make can actually cause your computer to slow down some? If your willing to sacrifice these small sometimes annoying sounds for a slight gain in speed then using this next little trick is for you. Since it has to use some memory in order for the sound to be processed it couldn't hurt if you wanted just a little bit of a performance boost, but it's an extremely low boost to speed that you probably wouldn't notice. A few small boosts here and there can add up quick, so you can decide if you want to use this next trick. Just remember by disabling the system sounds on your computer none of your software or windows programs will create sound which can make some people not want to disable it for a little speed which you won't notice. For example if you use a messenger and one of your buddies sends you a message the messenger won't make a sound notifying you of there message so before disabling the system sounds be sure you don't use a program in which you rely on the sound to work or to alert you about something. If you don't have any use for the system sound and want to disable it then proceed to the first step below.

1.)First click on start and then click on the control panel

2.)Now double click on the sounds and audio devices icon

3.)Then a new window appears, so up at the top of this new window click on the sounds tab

4.)Now in the drop down box that has sound scheme written on top of it, click on no sounds and a box will pop up so just click no

5.)Click apply and then click on ok and your finished

This will stop any sounds that tries to activate, but remember this will still allow other sounds to work such as sounds from videos on websites, so don't be afraid to disable this feature. Don't expect any huge gain in speed to your computer, but if you use all of these tricks in these articles I have written your computer will be a lot faster then it ever was before.
