How to Discover Your True Talent

Three Truths You Need to Know

marissa sayno
Love and Passion... these are the two words that shall define your talents and purpose on the journey of your so-called life. There is no other way for you to discover the calling of your life's path than the very desire for something that you love to do the most. When this love becomes so intense for that task you want to do, then, it becomes a grindstone for polishing that diamond inside you: TALENT.

When someone said that whatever inspires you to move out of your bed each morning you wake up is your true calling, it is only very logical to think so. There is no reason why you should do something you don't love doing, whether you are paid to do it or not. A few have taken the risk to follow their dreams and have succeeded reaching for their goals. Many are living in the art of compromise, telling themselves that they will have all the time in the world for their passions. Most often, it is too late to live the life that you truly wanted and regrets settle in - for good.

There is still time to pursue your dreams and it is important that you know what you are good at, for you to make a better map to life's bitter sweet reality. Discovering your real talent is not a hard thing to do, if you always keep in mind these three important things:

No. 1: True Talent will Reveal itself if You Don't Fear or Doubt

Sometimes, we are closer to the key that will unleash the very best in us, but our self doubts and fears make us lose that one chance to success. Many talented artists and writers out there have had their share of trials that are so tough it can tear one into nano pieces. In other times, it seems too impossible to put back those tiny shards of yourself back into whole. True talent doesn't only mean having that very skill, but also, knowing how to persevere to achieve your dreams. You may play the piano better than Mozart, but if you fear the idea of ever going out there on that stage and play that masterpiece, then, you will just be a prodigy in your dreams.

No. 2: Dream Big and Achieve... Bigger things!

How many times we heard a radio playing "...to dream the impossible dream ? " If this is the first thing that comes to your mind whenever you want to find your talents and use them to achieve that dream you have, it looks like you have a big bright word painted on your forehead: LOSER. People may call you funny names when you dream big and you will get laughed at. The geniuses of our history books have been mocked, hated, or worst, persecuted. It is their dream of becoming bigger than life that had crossed the line between what is possible and what's not. Let your dream guide you in your search for your true talent. You may even have a little idea of what it is, but as you go along trying to achieve your goals, you will see your talent clearly each day.

No. 3: Talent is Something You Do Effortlessly

Do you have a skill that comes so naturally you don't even think it's a talent you have after all? Sometimes, when what you do seems like a boring habit, you just can't see how others see your talent differently. We often find ourselves amazed with those gifted people who do their crafts with such flowing grace that is so natural and yet, producing results that are beyond normal. Unknown to you, your talent can also impress someone who cannot do the same thing. How many times do we stop to watch street artists playing their music? How often do we find ourselves enamored with a showcase of intricate and well-executed art forms? Even the very architecture of a building makes you wonder on the extent of the genius of its master architect. To discover your talent, simply observe yourself. What do you do best? If your family and friends love those pastries you have just made for them, then clearly, baking is your talent. All you have to do is polish it from a mere rock and turn it into a flawless diamond.

Remember that real talent is a result of love: a love to do, inspire, and share your gift to the world. Only you have the power to unleash your true calling, or keep it forever wasting in the dark. It's never too late to discover yourself. You might be surprised on what you'll learn. Reach for your dreams!
