How to Use Disk Cleanup for Removing Unwanted Files

C. O.
This little program within your computer makes it extremely easy to remove files such as temporary internet files, and recycle bin files. It clears out these unneeded and unwanted files for better overall performance from your computer. When you visit websites your computer can get this temporary internet files that are stored on your hard drive. This files basically are a file that show what websites and pages you have viewed and with enough of these files your computer's performance can decrease dramatically.

If you had multiply programs running and your ram is running out of memory it will switch over to your pagefile/swapfile to allow it to help out. Pagefile memory is slower than physical memory, but if your hard drive is full of programs and on top of that temporary internet files and such it will become even slower. To fix this problem you need to remove these files when you think or know the amount of files are slowing down your computer. By following these simply steps you will find out a way to increase the speed of your computer and it's performance while decreasing your hard drive space.

1.)Click on start then click on my computer

2.)Select you hard drive (in my case it's the C: hard drive) and right click on it choosing properties

3.)Make sure your on the general tab and click on disk cleanup

4.)Allow the system a few minutes to examine your hard drive and then a disk cleanup window will appear

5.)Now just check the boxes next to the files you want disk cleanup to remove and click ok

6.)Disk cleanup will take a few more minutes depending on how many files you asked to be deleted then it will be finished

7.)If you have any more hard drives you want disk cleanup to delete files from then repeat the following steps on your other hard drives

To recap if you have a lot of files such as cookies or temporary internet files on your computer your system's performance will gradually slow down. By cleaning out these files on your hard drive you allow your computer to have more resources while using less resources resulting in more speed. Keeping your cache (cookies, temporarily files, history) cleaned every now and then will free up hard drive space as well as keep your system optimized in performance and stability.
