How To Make DIY Green Wedding Invitations

Eloah James
This particular tutorial will require some skill at cutting straight lines, so if that is not a strong suit of yours, you may wish to choose. another. style. of invitation to make, substituting green for whatever color is suggested.

In order to create your own homemade wedding invitations for your green wedding, you will only need a few simple materials and tools. You will need stationery or cardstock paper in white or cream and a green* that closely matches your wedding. The white paper should be large enough to just fit inside the envelopes when folded double, but the green should be about half that size, as it will not be folded. You will need enough paper and envelopes for every person you are inviting, plus at least a dozen extra in case you make any mistakes. The tools you will need are a ruler, a protractor, good sharp pair of scissors, a sharp box cutting knife or similar blade, and lightweight paper adhesive or rubber cement. A guillotine paper cutter is also good to have, and if you have or can borrow a Cricut machine that cuts rectangles, the whole process including printing and assembly shouldn't take more than an hour. *It doesn't have to be exact, but if you can't find a green that closely matches, check those links above for help with dyeing the paper yourself.

To begin, fold all the white or cream paper in half and press the seem. Next, starting about a half inch to the right of the bottom left corner, use the protractor to measure and draw a diagonal line that ends 1½ inches up the right side [See Top Picture Above]. Repeat this for all the white pieces of paper.

Take a green piece of paper and use the ruler and pencil to draw a rectangle with a ¼ inch border on the left, right, and top, and a 1½ inch border on the bottom. Use the blade to cut it out. Your wedding information will be printed on the inside fold of the white paper and show through this area. To print this way, set your printer up with a top border that is equal to the length of the white paper from on edge to the fold, plus ¼ inch. In other words, if the finished invite is 4 inches high, the top border should be 4¼ inches. Using the adhesive or rubber cement, carefully glue the green paper to the inside half of the white paper.
