How to Document Your Pregnancy

Rachel Soden
Pregnancy is an exciting time. During the pregnancy, it can feel as if time is dragging. Once that beautiful baby is in your arms it will seem like the time flew by. One important thing you should do on the outset is decide how you want to document your pregnancy. This will not only help you remember certain events and reactions, but is also a good addition to your baby book. There are several ways you can document. Some are low maintenance while others will require extra work on your part.

1. Photographic Evidence

Every month on the same day, in the same outfit, with the same backdrop, take a side view of your stomach. After 9 months you will see the progression of your stomach's growth. To keep things interesting, think about adding props such as writing on your stomach, putting a rattle or bottle on your stomach, or having your partner place his hands around your stomach. You can then frame it or place it in an album.

2. Scrapbook it

Create a scrapbook. Make sure to include photos, doctor appointment cards, sonogram photos. It is important to use journaling spots to document reactions to the news, baby shower information, and your thoughts and feelings. For an added bonus, if you know what your nursery theme is, you can theme your pregnancy album to go along with it.

3. Pregnancy Album

If you are not a crafty type person, there are pre made pregnancy albums that you can buy that will document your pregnancy.

4. Blog it

Create a daily blog about your pregnancy. Not only will this document your thoughts, emotions, pictures, and experiences, but you can easily share updates on your pregnancy with your family members and friends. There are many websites online that will allow you to sign up for a free blog.

5. Journal it

Not technologically savvy? Can't create a scrapbook to save your life? Buy a simple composition notebook. Journal in it each day about your pregnancy, thoughts, emotions, updates, doctors appointments, and photographs. No one says it has to be pretty.

Regardless of what route you choose to go with, the important thing is that you stick with it. Remember to take lots of photos. You might not feel you are photogenic now but later down the road you will look back with fond memories. Pregnancy is a special time. Don't miss out on a second!
