Deathmatch Tip #1 - Learn the Maps
This is one of the best pieces of advice that I can give. Become familiar with each map so that you know where all of the best hiding spots and ambush points are. If you are unfamiliar with a certain map, your opponent will automatically have the advantage. If you are in a map that you don't know very well, spend as much time exploring as possible.
Deathmatch Tip #2 - Watch Your Opponents Kill Cam
You can also learn by watching other players and doing what works for them. Every time you are killed by an opponent, take the time to study their kill cam. You will soon learn where they were hiding, what weapons they were using, or any other special technique that they used to take you down. Use the information that you gather to your advantage.
Deathmatch Tip #3 - Don't Score Points for the Other Team
Ok, so this isn't soccer, but the concept is the same. Your goal is to get 7500 points for your team to win a Deathmatch round in MW2. The problem is that many players forget that it is also their opponents goal. Players who die a lot usually do more harm to the team than good. Remember, each time you allow yourself to get picked off, you just scored one point for the other team. By keeping your death count low, you are keeping the opposing teams score low.
Deathmatch Tip #4 - Keep Moving
Staying in one spot is one of the easiest ways to get killed. Camping might work temporarily, but the opposing team will eventually get smart and overrun your position. To keep this from happening, select a few hiding spots that are close to each other. Once you have killed one or two opponents from one position, move to another. When your opponents come back to get revenge, you can easily ambush them from your new post.
Deathmatch Tip #5 - Get to Higher Ground
One of the best ways to get an advantage is to stay as high off the ground as possible. Find a second story window, hill, or other high post where you can overlook a large area of the map.
Deathmatch Tip #6 - Use your Kill Streaks Wisely
Kill streaks rewards allow you to earn special items from ammo refills to air support. If planned right, these are a great way to take out a large number and get a huge lead (or make a huge comeback).
