How to Donate Your Wedding Gown to the Brides Against Breast Cancer Campaign

A dream wedding is on every couple-to-be's agenda, but the financial obstacles can be stressful for those who may have been diagnosed with breast cancer. One fund-raising event that has caught the attention of the media recently is the Making Memories Foundation's sponsorship of the Brides Against Breast Cancer Campaign. Every year, over 32 shows tour the nation in an effort to help women who have been diagnosed with terminal breast cancer; the show presents an assortment of wedding gowns for any bride-to-be to choose as their own for the Big Day. It's a dream come true for millions of men and women who might not have the resources and financing available to create their wedding to remember. If you're looking for a donation opportunity this year, consider donating your wedding gown to this valuable foundation.

Your tax-deductible donation can be mailed directly to:

Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation

12708 SE Stephens Street

Portland, OR 97233

You can also call (503) 829-4486 to find out more about tracking the package and delivery information. A $10 donation with the package can help take care of costs involved in cleaning and repackaging your piece. Making Memories foundation will send out a receipt for your gown in about six weeks.

The foundation organizes multiple events throughout the year. Showcasing the gowns is the easy part; the challenge lies in finding an assortment of gowns and style for different sizes and tastes. So far, dozens of bridal shops and designers have been able to donate signature pieces and fashionable creations, and this includes accessories, shoes, and veils for a complete ensemble. Even brand new designer selections have been cropping up at these bridal events with a range of styles and fabrics. Each dress can be purchased at a considerable discount; most are priced at 25-75% off, and can be valued at up to $4,000. According to the Making Memories website, the gowns typically range between $89 to $799.

The event takes place at top cities around the country, including Seattle, Buffalo, Atlanta, Chicago, Tampa, Denver, Phoenix, and Lexington. If you prefer to volunteer instead, you can join forces with the crew and sign up as a gown seller or event promoter. The Pink Envelope project is another segment of the Making Memories foundation; a bride can collect donations from all guests at the wedding reception to raise funds.

In addition to the standard wedding gown, the foundation is also on the search for flower girl dresses, slips, bridesmaid dresses, and Mother of the bride gowns. Amongst other donations, Making Memories accepts estate jewelry and diamonds if you are looking for more ways to fulfill someone's wish and dreams!

So happy to make a wonderful memory for a beautiful bride. It seemed such an awful shame not to share the opportunity by just letting my gown deteriorate in the closet. God bless you all for providing a wonderful way to make a bride shine on her day. I will immediately wrap and send the dress along with the donation of 12.00 for the cost of cleaning , and in return I feel great to help your organization. So I send a great big thanks to you all.

Thank you so much for this information. I have a wedding gown just sitting in the closet and I truly plan to mail it to them. I'm sure this article will really help their organization.
