Learn How to Get a Free Car from a Charity

Financial emergencies happen to everyone, but some of the worst financial crisis are caused by vehicle problems. A broken down vehicle can cost thousands to repair, and a family living paycheck to paycheck can rarely afford to fix a car that needs expensive repairs. Purchasing a new vehicle is not always an option, credit issues, low-income, and other problems may prevent a family or individual from qualifying for a new vehicle.

One way to get a free car, or an inexpensive car, is to approach a charity. Many charities accept vehicles as donations from car owners who chose to donate an old vehicle rather than fix it. In some cases, the vehicles donated are in running condition, but are no longer needed by the original owner. Some charities to approach are:

Cars 4 Christmas- This program gives individuals all over the United States a chance to receive a free car. Individuals or families who are going through a difficult time are encouraged to apply to receive a car. The application asks for personal information, and a brief description of the potential recipient's situation. The application can be mailed, faxed, or submitted online.

Free Charity Cars- One of the original car charity programs, free charity cars encourage individuals to create profiles and get votes in order to get a free car. Individuals who work for the company promoting free car events also have the chance to get a free car in addition to a job with benefits and a competitive salary.

Opportunity Cars- Designed to help hard working families, opportunity cars helps provide access to local programs offering free cars to individuals who may not have found them without help.

Good News Garage- Provides a variety of car related services to those in need. The New England based company helps provide low income families with free cars, low cost cars, and affordable or free vehicle repairs. The company also offers a transportation assistance program which gives individuals a ride to and from work while they are trying to find a vehicle to purchase.

If you are unable to find a car using the listed resources, do not forget to look locally. Local churches, auto repair shops, and other companies often have access to low cost or free vehicles to help those in need. Popular online websites such as Craigslist.org also give individuals a chance to purchase cheap cars, place ads for free cars, or exchange professional services or items for a free vehicle.
