Once you've created your iTunes account you'll be able to download apps from the apps store on iTunes. (In addition you'll also be able to purchase and download music, movies, and television shows from iTunes).
Now that you've created your iTunes account, click on the App Store link from within the iTunes software. You can search for apps by category, newest, or most popular. Once you've downloaded the apps that you want from the iTunes store, you then need to sync you iPhone to your PC to transfer your new apps to your phone. (And this also keeps a back-up copy of the apps on your PC. This is handy on the event your iPhone ever crashes; you'll have a back-up of your apps on your PC.)
To sync your iPhone to your PC, connect your iPhone to your PC using the white USB cable that came with your iPhone. The iTunes software should recognize your iPhone automatically once you connect it to your PC. Once recognized iTunes will automatically transfer your apps from your PC to your iPhone. Once the transfer is complete your new apps are ready to use!
