The Apple iPhone has changed the mobile phone. It's no longer just a device on which we make and receive calls, it's a device to manage our lives. And thanks the the apps available from Apple's iTunes store, there are plenty of tools to help you just that.

So how do you get apps from iTunes to your iPhone? If you're like many new iPhone users that's one of your first questions. So here's how to downloads apps from your computer using Apple's iTunes software to your iPhone.

To download apps from iTunes, you'll need to download and install the iTunes software onto your computer. The download is free and available at http://www.apple.com/itunes . Once you download the software, simply follow the onscreen instructions on how to install it.

Once installed, you'll need to create an account to download apps. Click on the store link within iTunes and then create an account. To create an account you'll need a credit card. Even if you plan only downloading apps that don't have a charge, you still need a credit card to create the iTunes account.

Once you've created your iTunes account you'll be able to download apps from the apps store on iTunes. (In addition you'll also be able to purchase and download music, movies, and television shows from iTunes).

Now that you've created your iTunes account, click on the App Store link from within the iTunes software. You can search for apps by category, newest, or most popular. While many apps are free, there any many that charge a free for downloading. And because you've linked your iTunes account to your credit card, be careful when downloading apps... Some can cost up to $70 or more! (For a list of five great FREE apps, check out this article http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/937721/the_top_free_applications_for_the_apple.html?cat=15 ).

Once you've downloaded the apps that you want from the iTunes store, you then need to sync you iPhone to your PC to transfer your new apps to your phone. (And this also keeps a back-up copy of the apps on your PC. This is handy on the event your iPhone ever crashes; you'll have a back-up of your apps on your PC.)

To sync your iPhone to your PC, connect your iPhone to your PC using the white USB cable that came with your iPhone. The iTunes software should recognize your iPhone automatically once you connect it to your PC. Once recognized iTunes will automatically transfer your apps from your PC to your iPhone. Once the transfer is complete your new apps are ready to use!
