By downloading a free browser (Opera Mini) to your Motorola v3 cell phone, you will enhance the speed on internet browsing on your cell phone. In this article, I will explain to you how to download this free and very useful browser to your Motorola v3 phone. If you just bought your Motorola v3 phone, you will have plenty of memory remaining on your phone to store the opera mini application. If you have had your phone awhile and you have lots of video and photos on your cell phone, you will want to buy some memory from your cell phone provider before downloading the Opera mini browser to your Motorola v3 phone.
Here are the directions to downloading this wonderful browser to your cell phone:
First: Open up your cell phone. (I know this is an obvious step.)
Next: Click on the button that my pen is pointing to. (See Photo 1) It is the right hand button at the top of the phone. For those of you who are more comfortable with your phone, simply click "Main Menu".
This will bring you to the cell phones menu. This is a page with a lot of pretty photos. (See Photo 2) I have a Cingular plan so my phone has lots of pretty photos. Move the arrows on your phone until you select the globe with the flash of light going around it. (See Photo 3)
More Specific directions to select the globe: Click on the left button (east button) once until you move the black box from over the Cingular Mall to the Media Net.
Click on this globe once. On my Motorola v3 phone (Cingular phone plan), it brings me to a Media Net browser. At the top of the page (top of the screen of your cell phone), it says, "Media Net Home". There is a dark black line around a rectangular box. This box is automatically selected. So I will click on the middle shiny circle button once (from this point forward, this is what I mean when I say "click once"). Another box comes up asking me to "Enter Text:". In this box I want to type in: Opera Mini.
Here is how you do type in letters:
1. Notice that each of the numbers on your cell phone have small letters on them. You can use these letters to create words. Next to the number 2, there are three letters "ABC". If you want the letter a, you will click once (remember that round silver button). If you want letter b, you will hit the round silver button two times in a row (click twice), and if you want the letter "c", you will click three times. We want "o" then "p" then "e" then "r" then "a" then " " (a space) then "m" then "i" then "n" then "i".
Here is how you type that on your phone:
For "o", hit the number 6 button three times (when you hit it three times, it needs to be in quick succession). Next, hit the number 7 button once, hit the number 3 button twice, hit the number 7 button three times, hit the number 2 button once. In the lower left had corner of your phone, there is a little " * " key. Hit this button once. It will make a space between the word opera and mini. Next, hit the number 6 button once, then the 4 button three times, the 6 button two times and again tap the 4 button three times. This will spell opera mini in your text box.
Now you simply click on the silver circle button (upper top center of your phone - you can see this button in photo 3). Once you click this, you will see that the words "opera mini" are in your text box. Click on the "West" button (as described in the caption on Photo 3) one time. This will move the black rectangular box over the orange search button. Click on the round silver button once.
At the top of the screen, you will see the words, "Connecting..." It is time to patiently wait until you see a new screen on your phone. This should only take about 25 seconds but it may take up to 5 minutes. In my Media Net browser (I have a Cingular phone plan), the black rectangular box is around the word "HOME". This means that the word is currently selected. If you are with another companies phone plan, you may see a different screen. If you have a Media Net browser, click on the South button several times (approx 4 times) until the words Mobile Web are selected. Click on the round silver button once.
It will take a moment, but you will be directed to a new screen (this means you will see a different picture than the one you are currently seeing). Move the arrow buttons (North and/or south) until the green box is highlighting the words "Opera Mini". Click the silver circle button on your phone once.
This will bring you to a new screen where "Download Opera Mini!" will be highlighted in green. Click on the silver circle button once. Then, wait. In a few seconds to a few minutes you will be brought to a new screen and your opera mini browser will have been downloaded on your phone.
To use your opera mini browser, follow the directions above to get to the main menu. From the main menu screen, use your West button by clicking it several times until you have the black box highlighting the little game controller. When the game controller is bouncing up and down, click the silver circle button one time. This will pop up a new screen. From this new screen, click on the "West" button once. This will highlight the game controller. Click the silver circle button once. This will bring you to a new screen (at the top of the screen it will say, "Games & Apps"). Click the south button several times until you have highlighted "Opera Mini". Click the silver circle button and it will open up the opera mini browser for you.
