How to Download, Unzip and Use a Dreamweaver Template

Jasmine Starr
In this tutorial I will show you how to download a Dreamweaver template, how to unzip a template, and how to open it in Dreamweaver and use it. Using Dreamweaver templates is a lot easier than people think. If you are new to web design I know that it looks like a lot of work. But once you do the first one, you will be constantly changing templates. First, we will download a template, then we will unzip it, and last we will open it in Dreamweaver. Go ahead and open your Dreamweaver program.

Downloading your Dreamweaver Template

Follow thislink and we will download the Green Blue Cool Template on this page to use for our example. Click the Download Now link beside the Green Blue Cool Template. A box will pop up and ask you what do you want to do with this file. Click Save to Disk and locate a place to save it. It is best to save it on your desktop so that you can find it. Click OK or Save to start downloading this file. It shouldn't take long for your download. Most templates are fairly small in size.

Unzipping your Dreamweaver Template

Minimize your windows and locate the file on your desktop that you just downloaded. The file should be named t3. Double click on that file. When you double click the file, a window will open and you will see different folders and stuff in the window. On the left side of the window you will see a link that says "Extract All Files". Click on that link to begin unzipping the file. The Extraction Wizard box will pop up, click Next. Then click the Next button again. Tick the box that says Show Extracted Files. Then click the Finish button. That will open the unzipped files in a new window. Your template is now unzipped. Next, we will open it in Dreamweaver.

Using your Template in Dreamweaver

Now we will open the template in your Dreamweaver program and use it. Maxamize your Dreamweaver program. Go to the top of your program and click File > Open. When the box pops up, locate your desktop in the box. Then you will see the t3 folder. Double click that folder. Then double click on the Templates folder. Click on that file and click the Open button.

That will open the template file in your Dreamweaver program. Now you can link your links and type the stuff that you want on your page. When you save the file, save it as index.html.

Hello, I hope you can answer. I just can't get what's going on. I have a html template. It can be opened in any browser with no problems. When I open it in dreamweaver in designer mode everything i can see is a single gif image that is used for a background. When cursor approaches the image, a table sign appears near arrow. if i press left mousebutton and move it any direction, the template appears. But it is distorted, images are misplaced. What is this? Thanks.
