How to Download Videos from YouTube

With about 200,000 videos uploaded and 200,000,000 watched every day, it's no surprise that YouTube is the third most popular web site in the world, behind only Facebook and Google.

On YouTube you can upload videos for others to watch, watch videos which others have uploaded, rate videos by liking or disliking them, and share videos by emailing them to friends, posting them to your favourite social networking sites, or embedding them on your web site or blog. With YouTube, you can get your message across to a very wide audience in a reasonable amount of time.. The only downside? Where you don't have internet, you don't have YouTube videos.

You might come across a YouTube video you'd like to keep. This way, if you find yourself without internet access, you can still watch it on your computer. Since the video is stored on your computer, you can also sync the video onto your iPod or MP3 player.

In this tutorial, we will look over some ways to download YouTube videos easily, using a site called Zamzar. Zamzar is easy because it allows you to choose which format you want to download the YouTube video in, so, say, you could view it on your iPod or mobile phone.

To start, find the YouTube video you would like to download, by visiting YouTube.com and searching for a video. Once you've found the video, select the entire address in the address bar of your web browser and copy it by Right-Clicking (Control-Clicking on Mac) in the address bar and then clicking copy.

Now visit Zamzar.com and click the Download Videos tab, to the right of Convert Files. Delete everything in the Step 1 field by selecting it and pressing the delete key. Now similar to copying the address of the YouTube video, this time, paste in the address.

Looking now at Step 2, choose a format for the video. Here's a quick format reference guide:

• 3gp - For basic mobile phones

• iPhone - For Apple iPhone or iPod Touch

• iPod - For any other iPod, such as Classic or Nano

• Mp4 - For viewing on Mac, Apple TV, or iPad

• Wmv - For viewing on a Windows PC

You shouldn't need any other formats. Now, simply enter your email address in the field at Step 3, then click the Convert button. Click OK to the message that appears.

You will soon receive the video at your email address, and you will have 24 hours to download the video from the provided link. Enjoy your YouTube video wherever you might be!
