How to Download Youtube Videos in Firefox

Chrisdavy
So you see a video you like on Youtube, and next week it's gone. Why bother asking or looking? Don't ever let this happen to you. Download it to your hard drive and have it forever.
  1. Step 1
    • Step 2

Just you wait! You'll have all the lonelygirl19 episodes you want! lonelygirl17! 15! I don't know...I never watched that show

After it plays, type "about:cache" in the Firefox URL box.

    • Step 3

Go down to where it says "Disk Cache Device." Do you see that long string beside "Cache Directory"? That's where Firefox stores temporary video and picture files. Highlight it and copy it.

    • Step 4
Go to your desktop and double click your My Computer icon. Paste the directory and hit Enter.
    • Step 5

You should see a bunch of weird looking files. The last one should be your video. Scroll over it. It should be between 2 and 10 MB, depending on how long it was. Highlight it, and copy it.

    • Step 6

Paste the video to the desktop.

    • Step 7

Rename the video whatever you want, but MAKE SURE it has an .flv extension.

    • Step 8
You have a Flash file that's ready to play. Now you need the player. Google "VLC player." It's a well-known, free download which plays Flash files. Once you download and install that, you're off to the races!
Open the Youtube page you want and let the video play ALL THE WAY THROUGH.

AC's licentious, guilty pleasure. What can I say? I write about sex and money. You know, the important stuff. Giggle. (But I do it so well!) Fashion, too. LOL  View profile
