How to Draw a Bunny

Drawing a Bunny for Easter

In order to draw a bunny, but not just any bunny, but your own version, it helps to have an idea in your head what bunnies look like, and then alter it slightly to look like your unique bunny. Lets say you've already seen real bunnies, seen cartoon bunnies, and all and want to draw one that expresses you. Here are some tips.

Cute bunnies are chunky. They have legs and ears and they aren't skinny like Bugs Bunny. Think of Thumper. Cute bunnies are rounded, like drawing a cute baby and add ears. Really get a picture in your mind of what you want your bunny to look like and practice drawing it until you get it.

You have to experiment. Here are a few different looks for bunnies. I hope you enjoy. Have fun experimenting with poses and ear expressions, will your bunny wear clothes? Will it have a funny hat? You can say a lot with the way a bunny looks. Is it sad, happy, does it have a twinkle in its eyes?

Start with the face and keep going, add expressive ears and let it tell you how it looks as you go. You get the idea. Keep experimenting and really delve into what you are trying to say. I always have drawn and just like drawing cute animals. But maybe someday I will come up with a story to it.

Drawing is a solitary activity that can turn you into a cartoonist, if you have an idea for a book or even if you just do a cartoon strip. Cartoon humor is often violent, think Bugs Bunny. But fortunately, Mickey Mouse doesn't have as much violence for the most part.

Lots of cartoons these days are very violent and have been for thirty years or so. Lets see if someone can be successful without resorting to acts of terror in their cartoons. Charlie Brown is a good example of a good cartoon. It explored people without getting too violent. Snoopy is a beloved character thanks to Charlie Brown.

Turn off the TV and learn to meditate and see where your new creativity takes you. It can clear up writers block and get you into a new mode of creativity. Drawing a simple bunny will help you improve and warm you up for people, things and even other animals.

Learning to draw is fun and can be a good hobby and even a career.
