Unfortunately, not everyone has nicely shaped thick eyebrows. Some people have thin brows, or have lost them completely due to chemotherapy.
Whether you have thin eyebrow hair that needs a little assistance looking thicker, or have lost your brow hair completely during chemo, most likely you'll need to use an eyebrow pencil to either fill in, or draw on, the brows.
If your brows are simply thin, use an eyebrow pencil to make light quick strokes and fill in the bald or thin areas, then use a disposable mascara brush to create the illusion of feathery looking hairs.
If you've totally lost your brow hair, you will need to make a "connect-the-dot" template to create a new brow. These tips will show you how to do just that.
For the most natural results, buy a powder pencil. The powder pencils are better than the crayon type because they create a look that is less harsh. Plus, the powder type is easier to feather on and will look more like natural hairs, and it won't smudge off as easily as a crayon does.
Look for a brand that has a pencil on one end and a brush on the other end. The best one, in my opinion, is the "Brow Expert" by Lancome. If you can't find a pencil with a brush on the end, you can always buy some disposable mascara brushes from a beauty supply store such as Sally's.
Be sure the pencil you buy is in a shade that matches your hair color.
For the first dot, hold the pencil straight up against your nose, parallel to the inside corner of your eye. Draw a small dot right above the brow bone.
For the second dot, look straight ahead and lay the pencil straight up and down, parallel to the outside edge of the colored part of your eye. Locate the highest point on your natural brow bone and draw a small dot. This will be the dot used to create the arch of your brow.
For the last dot, lay the pencil diagonally from the bottom corner of your nose past the outside corner of your eye. Try to line up bottom of the last dot with bottom of the first one. Again, just stay on your natural brow bone.
Now it's time to connect the dots. Make short feathery strokes with the pencil, starting at the first dot and continuing to the middle and finishing with the third dot.
Draw heavier longer strokes as you start the brow, and finish up with shorter thinner strokes.
Use the disposable mascara wand brush to create feathery lines along the brow, giving the illusion of individual hairs.
Practice a few times until you feel comfortable creating the look.

This would even be good for those of us with ultra-blonde eyebrows like mine. You can't even see mine when I don't pencil them in. Thanks :)

I've never been able to achieve a good look with an eyebrow pencil. I guess I am doing something wrong. Thanks for the info, though!
Great article. I've never been quite sure about this.
Great article~!
Awesome article! I also use the Lancome Brow expert because of the brush ~ thanks for instructions how to draw those brows perfectly.
I know a lot of women have this problem, but it is really hard to find the right products. The matte/non-shimmer eye shadow also works to fill in bare spots.
Such a special article. I know a girl who donated her hair to 'locks for love.' Her aunt had cancer. This is nice of you to write this. Did I tell you how much I love your little dog avatar? Thanks, Nikki!
I so need to do this; quick, and in a hurry! Thanks :-)
