How to Dress as Heidi Montag from The Hills: Halloween Costume Tips

L. Zajac
MTV's The Hills follows it's rapid hit Laguna Beach, focusing on the lives of Lauren Conrad and her friends. However, one of the standout stars of the show is Heidi Montag, known both for her forays into plastic surgery and her slimy boyfriend, Spencer Pratt. Making your own Heidi costume is easy and cost-efficient, along with fun.

Heidi's casual look consists of summery dresses and dressier office attire, along with her going-out looks. The easiest look to replicate would be Heidi's dressier night look. To get your own Heidi creation, look no further than your local Anchor Blue store. Heidi's line, Heidiwood, is available for reasonable prices. The line offers tee shirts, tops, skirts, dresses, jeans, and accessories, all priced between $9.95 to $49.95. A cute look might be the Fitted Charcoal Tuxedo Halter ($26.95), paired with the Overdyed Black Skinnies with Signature Heidi Logo Pockets (49.95). Both of these pieces can also be seen online at http://www.anchorblue.com/heidiwood/.

Sadly, most Anchor Blue locations are mostly on the West Coast, so an alternate look is a possibility. To replicate a different look, consider wearing a flirty dress with ankle boots and a killer handbag. For accessories, jewelry from Heidi's line might be purchased, or you might just go to your local Claire's (or similar accessory shop) and pick up some dynamic jewelry that makes a statement. Consider big rings, earrings, or necklaces.

To bring your look to the next level, you need to replicate Heidi's hair and makeup. Heidi has platinum locks, which may be hard to replicate for darker-haired girls. To avoid damage, consider purchasing a long, wavy wig for this costume. Or, if you're already platinum, pick up some inexpensive clip-in extension to add length and fullness. If you're a brunette and you plan to dye your hair, make sure to go to a professional stylist in order to get the desired results.

Heidi is not one to shy away from makeup, so be prepared to embrace color. You'll first need a solid tan to replicate Heidi's look, which can be achieved with bronzer. Feel free to try a pink blush, metallic eye shadow, liner, and lots of mascara. A flirty lipstick will further complete your look.

A Heidi costume is not complete without her Hills costars, so it would be fun to see if your friends could dress as Lauren, Audrina, Lo, or Stephanie. Or, you might convince your boyfriend to dress as Spencer, which would add an additional edge to your look. Either way, enjoy dressing as a fun character with a lot of personality this Halloween season!
