How to Dress Up as a Monty Python Character for Halloween

"And Now for Something Completely Different..."

No matter which "Pythoner" you decide to emulate this Halloween, don't forget the accent! (Unless, of course, you're Terry Gilliam.)

John Clease: Perhaps the most well known of the Pythoners because of his rather successful post-Python career, John Clease may be your best bet for an easily recognizable costume, eh, so to speak. The tricky part is the comb-over...but once you've got that, it's simple! Wear a gray suit and walk with large, exaggerated steps.

Michael Palin: Dress in a red bishop costume and instead of, "Trick or Treat!" quip "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!" But wait, that may be in poor taste. Here's a better idea: Stick on a fake mustache, and carry around an oversized birdcage with a wooden parrot inside. Parrot may be "nailed to the perch" or "kipping on it's back."

Eric Idle: Carry around a guitar and sing, "And did those feet/ in ancient times/ walk upon England's mountain's green!" and "The Money Song"

Terry Jones: It's time to raid your grandmother's closet! Although all the Pythoners dressed in drag, no one took it upon himself as frequently or convincingly as Terry Jones .

Grahm Chapman: Dress up as a policeman and proclaim that everything is, "Silly, silly, silly." Don't forget a mustache and an old-fashioned policeman's hat that buckles under the chin.

Terry Gilliam: If trick or treating as a Pythoner isn't obscure enough for you, dress as camera-shy cartoonist, Terry Gilliam. I don't know why you'd want to dress up as him, as he doesn't play any distinctive characters; but I'm sure a die-hard fan can make it happen.
