Long since the availability of thread, yarn and holed pasta, girls got innovative by stringing pasta to make a necklace, chain or bracelet. You could take rounded or star shaped pasta and string it up to make that cute necklace.
Get more innovative, add colors to the pasta with a hole to match up to your party dress and make the last minute cute jewelry. Do not be surprised if you are asked to make more of those for your friends. How about gifting a few of such jewelry to your friends on their birthday? Is it not an inexpensive gift idea that would also touch their hearts?
As children grow older, tougher pasta crafts can be experimented and made at home. Using a piece of dark tag board, the kids can draw a stick figure of a person with stretched out arms. Now take different types of pasta follow the picture and create a skeleton. Use wagon wheel pasta for the head, spaghetti for fingers and toes and macaroni for the hips.
For decorating the Christmas tree with snowflakes, you could get your kids make it. That would make them proud too. Take a Ziploc pouch; add different shapes of pasta to it and some white paint. Wear gloves to mix the pasta and the paint together. Now take them out and let them dry. When they are half dry, the pasta could be attached to the tree. The paint also acts like an adhesive and sticks to the tree looking like perfect snowflakes.
Try different types for the vertebrate, arms and legs. A lot of fun of the craft lies in deciding which pasta to use. This could be your perfect Halloween figure to keep outdoors on the lawn or on the apartment door for the spooky effect
Pasta pets can be made with pasta, pipe cleaners, and glue. Rigatoni is perfect for bodies and legs. Wagon wheels are great for chubby bellies. Attach a couple of pasta pieces onto a pipe cleaner. Bend the pipe cleaner on either end to form the neck and the tail of the animal.
At the end of the neck, roll the pipe cleaner to form a head. When experimenting as you go ahead, you and your kids would be surprised at the creatures you can create in no time at all.
Now is the time to stroll down the pasta aisle in the store next to you. This time you get pasta home, you would be using it outside the kitchen for decorating the home too. What's more, your kids would love to get busy during the vacations to help making cute pasta crafts and showing them off to friends and relatives.
