A very good way of letting the phone dry is to place it on the top of a monitor or a TV just over the vent. Keep it there for a day and it should dry out nicely because of the heat given out by these electrical machines. The heat isn't too hot, so it won't damage the phone.
You might have collected silica packs. You know, those things which absorb water and come inside packets of electronics, coats, and shoes and so on. If you have a few of those then place them in a plastic bag along with the wet phone and leave it for two days. The silica packs should absorb the moisture. If you don't have these things, which is very common, then go to your local craft store and ask for a flower drying kit. These things have a silica sand-like mixture. All you have to do is place it in a dish along with a dryer sheet and put the phone above the dryer sheet. Seal the dish tight and keep it like that. The phone should be dried soon.
You might have heard that you need to wash the cell phone in distilled water in order to clean the minerals that might have stuck with the circuits. This is because these minerals might later corrode the phone surface or the circuits. If you do wash it with distilled water, make sure you have removed the SIM card and the battery.
Heating the battery or trying to dry it is a very bad idea. They are very sensitive and just might explode! This is very dangerous, so just let them be in room temperature and they should dry slowly but safely.
If you had dropped the phone in a soda and then it became sticky, then you might try washing the phone with alcohol. But if you do this, remember to put the battery back in only after the smell of alcohol is there no more.
This might sound funny, but do not put ANY electrical devices in the microwave. This could damage both the electrical device and the microwave oven.
If your phone has been damaged with water, it will not be covered with most phone warrantees. So check to see if you are covered or not. It will be useless if you want to try to pass the phone as though it had been damaged some other way, because most phones today have special stickers inside them. With these stickers any technician will be able to tell whether your phone had been damaged by water or not. This is also risky if the weather is very humid, so avoid going outside with your cell phone in such cases
