Though the chances of the risks may be low, but they can be severe if they happen to you or your baby. You should talk to your doctor about whether it is worth testing the paternity of the baby with this particular test.

The only other way to determine paternity is to wait until the baby is born. This may take a lot longer, but unless there is some risk to the baby if you don't know the father's history, it may be the best way to test the paternity of the baby. There are some medical risks that just aren't worth taking unless you absolutely have to in order to save the baby's life. You can find out when the baby is born who the father is and it will be a much easier test to get done.
