Below you will find a listing of sites that offer gift cards for book retailers. I've received gift cards from each place numerous times (with the exception of Netwinner, which has been verified for sending the gift cards.) I will give a short description of the site and an idea of what you need to cash out for the gift cards. Please note that I have not included any referral links to any of these sites. I want you to join because you like what you see, not because you think I'm trying to drum up some extra referrals.
I have been a member of Gather since Last September. Since that time I've earned hundreds in free gift cards to Barnes and Noble and Borders. Unfortunately they no longer offer the gift cards for Barnes and Noble, but they are still offering the gift cards to Borders (as well as several other retailers.) You can earn points which you can in turn cash in for your chosen gift card amount. A $10 gift card will cost you 625 points, a $25 gift card costs 1,565 points and a $50 gift card costs 3,125 points. You earn points with every action (except private messages) you perform on that site. Referrals will earn you additional points.
My points is a site where you are rewarded points for accepting offers, shopping and reading emails sent to you. I rarely do an offer, and never shop there, but I do read all the emails. Each email contains a sponsored offer that you are to look at. Click the link look over the site and you've just earned yourself 5 points. You can also answer some quick polls on the site and earn points for that as well. These typically pay out 5 points each as well, more if you accept an offer connected to them. Referrals will earn you additional points. They offer gift card for Barnes and Noble here (as well as several other retailers.) A $5 online gift certificate costs 750 points, while a $10 gift card mailed to you costs 1,400 points and a $25 gift card mailed to you costs 3,250 points.
Testspin is a survey company. They send survey invites you your email that you might qualify for and you are credited a dollar value for completing them. Some you'll qualify for, some you won't, but it's easy money for answering some short surveys now and again. Once you have earned $10 you can cash out for a $10 Amazon e-certificate. They are working on implementing a Paypal payment option as well as the Amazon gift certificates.
Epoll is another survey company, though most of their surveys are geared around the entertainment and television side of things rather than products. I've found that more times than not you do qualify for their surveys. Each survey is typically worth 500 points each, some are more, though, but they are rather rare to come across. They offer e-certificates to Amazon as well as gift cards to a number of other merchants. A $5 Amazon e-certificate is 3,500 points, a $10 Amazon e-certificate is 6,750 points, a $15 Amazon e-certificate is 9,750 points, a $20 Amazon e-certificate is 12,500 points, and a $30 Amazon e-certificate is 17,250 points. It can sometimes take a while to earn enough to cash out, but, again it's easy money for books, and it all adds up.
This is yet another survey company. Once again you might or might not qualify for the surveys you are invited to, but it's quick and easy money. Each survey typically credits you with 75 points. They offer Amazon e-certificates among other merchants. These points are accumulated and cashed in for the gift cards. I believe it is 500 points for a $5 Amazon e-certificate.
Netwinner is an online lotto type of game. You guess numbers and if correct you earn points. That's all there is to it, though it does take some massive time to get any points - even with the 1,000 point signup bonus. They offer gift cards to Barnes and Noble, and a $25 gift card will cost you 25,000 points, a $50 gift card will cost you 50,000 points, a $75 gift card will cost you 75,000 points and a $100 gift card will cost you 100,000 points.
As you can see, there's numerous sites out there that you can join and earn some free books from. Happy reading and shopping!

I belong to a lot of survey sites and very seldom quilify. I like the sites that you click and earn cash from.
Clixsense is a site that you just click on the site and stay there for thirty seconds.

none of these sites are going to make you rich but slow and steady will make a decent income.
Thank you for your sites.
Gwen, thanks for the site suggestion. I'll be sure to check it out! Yes, Testspin has paid me $30 so far and as soon as the last couple surveys are closed and credited to my account I'll be cashing out once more.
DrDevience, Oh no, really? Hm, you probably still could go for it. I didn't really go into too much detail, but rather did a quick gloss over on it.
I was just sitting here contemplating writing a review of Gather...
Thanks, I had not heard of test spin. I also got a book from http://pointsandprizes.com/ It was pretty easy and no surveys:)
