Is your house overdo for decluttering? One way to earn quick cash is by decluttering your home.

Many of us have cluttered homes in the first place because we think hanging onto that old junk will saves us money. Unfortunately, clutter wastes space, makes it difficult to clean and impossible to locate the items that you need but now can't find because they are buried beneath boxes of junk somewhere. And the reality of saving all this stuff for the future is that it probably will never be used anyway. Wouldn't you much rather have some quick cash instead?

For the thrifty minded, it's nice to know that decluttering may actually earn you some quick cash. Here's some ideas how you can turn your clutter into cash.

Sell antiques and collectibles on-line. If your house is filled with inherited junk and no one in the family has any sort of sentimental attachment to these items, they should be sold for the best price possible. eBay is my favorite venue for getting rid of those old treasures, though local book dealers and antique shops will also buy these items for quick cash. Collectible items that sell well on eBay include:
* Collectible toys, lunch boxes
* Old books & postcards in excellent condition
* Collectible dishes, cookware, pottery, serveware, glassware
* Vintage table linens, vintage clothing (pre 1970s)
* Antique household furnishings, vintage lamps, art, collectible costume jewelry, vintage tools, vintage holiday decorations etc.

To determine the worth of these items, a quick internet search will give you a good idea of current prices.

Sell coins, trading cards, comic books, and stamps to local dealers. Most of us aren't at all familiar with the ranking system used to value these type of collectibles so that we can sell them on eBay without getting slammed with negative feedback. For getting rid of this type of clutter, local dealers are the best option for getting some quick cash. Do a little price research before you go for an idea of what these items are worth.

Send like-new clothes, accessories, contemporary jewelry, and furnishings to consignment shops. Consignment shops sell used goods on a percentage basis. In most towns the split is 50/50. While the cash you earn from consignment sales isn't all that quick, it usually means a higher price than if you tried to sell it on your own.

Recycle clean paper, newspaper, cardboard, and aluminum for cash. In our town, these types of papers can be recycled for a penny a pound, which is another great way to earn some quick cash while decluttering your home. Things like old aluminum screens, doors, and siding can also be recycled for quick cash.

Yard sale the rest. Once the antiques and other valuable clutter has been dispensed with, the rest of the clutter can be yard-saled. If the goal is to move clutter out of your house, then the items should be priced slightly lower than what's available at local thrift stores.

Decluttering a home can be a tough job for those of us who are either sentimental or see a future use or need for everything we own. The prospect of earning some quick cash while freeing up space in our home should make the job of decluttering at least a little more tolerable.
