Always allow your customers to communicate with you. Provide ways, whether it is in person, over the telephone or on the Internet to ask questions and to provide feedback and suggestions. Always honestly answer questions as quick as you can. If you do not have an immediate answer, tell the customer that you need to get back to him. Make sure you find a way to contact him, such as having a phone number or email address, once you have an answer. Remember that more than one customer may have the same or similar question. Print up handouts or have a website that lists these frequently asked questions.
Always offer a guarantee. It is bound to happen where a customer purchases a product then wants his money back. The reasons vary such as a product being defective, the product was something he did not really need or he found the same product for a cheaper price. Even though you lose money because the sale did not actually take place, by refunding his money you have built his trust. He will most likely make future purchase at your store.
Always provide a high quality product. Take toys, for example. There are some stores that sell toys for a cheap price. However, the customer gets what he pays for, a cheap product that falls apart after a few days. However, there are other toys that are built to last a long time. While the customer expects to pay more for such a product, they are paying for something that is high quality.
If you have samples of your product, offer them to the customer. For example, you may sell makeup in your store. You have a new line of products and you want to get sales but your potential customers may be a little hesitant about buying them. By providing samples or allowing to try some on, you will be building a trusting customer base.
Building a trusting relationship with your customers is important if you want your business to survive. Not everybody is going to be totally satisfied with a product that they recently purchased. However, if you assist them in a fair manner, they will continue to give growth to your business.
