How to Make Easter Bunny Ears

Queen Jane
Easter is a time for family. Why not use it as an excuse to create something with your children?

This article will assist you in a simple step-by-step process of making Easter bunny ears. These easy to make Easter bunny ears are great to celebrate the holiday festivities; younger children, and even young at heart adults, will love to wear them. I made them last Easter with my cousins, who are four and six, and they didn't take them off all day while they searched for eggs and bit the ears off chocolate bunnies.

You can purchase the materials needed for this project at JoAnn Fabrics or Michaels. If these stores are not in your area, your local craft store will carry them. There is a good chance stores like Target and Wal-Mart might even have the supplies.

However, many of them can probably be found around the house. That is what makes this project so cost effective and easy - it's great for children. Just remember to supervise them around the hot glue gun and scissors.

Materials you will need:

Egg carton

Scissors

Headband

White cotton

Pink crayon

Glue gun

Instructions:

1. Use scissors to cut the edges of the egg carton top into ear shapes.

2. Color the insides of the ears with pink crayon.

3. Glue bits of cotton around the outside of the ears.

4. Finish by gluing the ears to a headband with the glue gun.

5. Let the ears dry completely before wearing.

An optional touch is decorating the ears with glitter or sequins. You can even use a different color crayon other than pink if you want to be a unique Easter bunny. This is a time to let your children's imaginations run wild.

For a higher level of difficulty, you can make the ears furry. Use cardboard instead of egg carton so it is sturdier.

You will need to obtain white faux fur material (it can be purchased at craft store like JoAnn's). Use pink felt (this step may require simple sewing beforehand) for the inside of the ears. This can be done on a normal sewing machine or by hand. For instructions on how to sew see the links at left. I am not sure how well it would work to try to attach the felt to the fur using a glue gun.

After cutting the cardboard into the shape of an ear, take faux fur and use the glue gun to attach it. Let dry for ten to fifteen minutes.

See, that wasn't such hard work, was it? Now you can be free to enjoy your creation. You could also save them or make them again for a Halloween costume.
