How to Make an Easter Bunny Egg Classroom Basket

You can create this Easter bunny egg basket for your classroom, social group, or home quickly and inexpensively. Write individual notes for students and add them to plastic eggs with a candy for each child in your room or group.

Supplies Needed for Easter Bunny Egg Basket

Cardstock paper in solid pastel color (for basket body)
Cardstock paper in white for bunny
Pastel patterned paper for Easter eggs
Decorative ribbon or rick-rack
Small cardboard box
Pink crayon or pen
Blue crayon or pen
Pencil
Small red pom-pom for bunny's nose
Ruler
Scissors
Glue
Crayons in other colors
Optional: glitter and Easter themed stickers

Step-by-Step Directions for Easter Bunny Classroom Egg Baskets

1. Cut 4 panels from the solid pastel cardstock to fit each side of your cardboard box. In the photo example, we used a cardboard box approximately 6.24 inches tall by 7 inches wide.

2. Glue one solid pastel cardstock piece to each side panel on the cardboard box.

3. Cut 4 pieces of decorative ribbon or rick-rack to match the height of your box. Glue this ribbon along the edges of the box so that no cardboard is showing. The ribbon or rick-rack will slightly overlap the pastel cardstock on each side.

4. Set the box aside to dry.

5. Draw a Easter bunny shape on the white cardstock using the pencil. Be sure you draw a bunny that will fit on the side of your box. The bunny's ears may stick above the box edge.

6. Cut the bunny using the scissors.

7. Use the pink crayon or pen to fill in the bunny's ears, tummy, paws, and toes.

8. Use the blue crayon or pen to draw the bunny's eyes, mouth, and tooth.

9. Write "Happy" and "Easter" on either side of the bunny's tummy.

10. Glue the red pom-pom on the bunny for the nose.

11. Set the bunny aside to dry.

12. Draw 9 egg shapes using the pencil on the back of pastel printed paper. Use different colored papers for the best effect.

13. Cut the eggs out and set aside.

14. Color decorative lines and draw grass on the dried paper-covered box.

15. Glue the bunny to the front of the box.

16. Glue 3 eggs onto the remaining sides of the box.

17. Place tissue paper in the decorated box and add goodies to the box.

18. Place in your classroom or home!

19. Optional: Add a sturdy handle to the box.

You can easily adapt this to a classroom or group project if you want each child to make his or her own bunny. Purchase smaller boxes at a craft store and precut the paper ahead of time. The children can then decorate their bunnies and paper-covered boxes as they want with crayons, pens, glitter, or stickers.
