What you will need:
Red and pink construction paper (about 5-10 sheets each)
Scissors
Clear contact paper
Hole Punch
Fishing Line
Step One: You will need to cut out several different size hearts. They can be large or small but keep them to no smaller than the size of your hand when open flat. To cut the hearts simple fold the paper in half (or quarters depending on the size of the heart you want) and cut it into a half heart shape. When you open the construction paper you will have a Valentine's Day heart.
Step Two: Once you have finished cutting out all of the hearts you can then toss the construction paper scraps away. This will give you a clean work space for your next step.
Step Three: Cut a large piece of sticky contact paper from the roll. Set it flat on the table and remove the paper that is used to protect the stickiness of the contact paper. Place several hearts onto the contact paper. You can then either fold the contact paper to cover the hearts or cut a new sheet to place on top. The idea is to have your Valentine's Day hearts covered on both sides with clear contact paper.
Step Four: You will then cut around each Valentine's Day heart outline. Having the contact paper on the outside of your Valentine's Day hearts will protect them from the outdoor elements.
Step Five: Once you have the hearts all cut out you will then take your hole punch and punch one hole in each heart. Leave at least one inch from the top of the Valentine's Day heart when punching your holes.
Step Six: Cut the fishing line into 6 inch pieces and tie one piece to each heart. You can then take them outside and tie them to a tree, railing or anything else you would like to decorate. By leaving the extra length of fishing line they will be able to blow in the wind.
For an added touch you can also decorate your tree or railing with red and white Christmas lights to give it that added Valentine's Day touch. With this easy and cheap outdoor Valentine's Day decoration your home will be the talk of the street!
