The first thing that I want to tell you is that it is very important that you have some height to your centerpiece. You want everyone to notice it when they walk into a room. If you have short centerpieces people may not notice them. The second thing that you will want to remember is that you will want to have different colors in your centerpiece. They should be eye-catching.
Centerpiece #1-Grape Tower
Items that you will need
1 cylinder shaped foam cone
1 vase or large goblet
Toothpicks
Green and Purple grapes
Step #1-Wash all of your produce.
Step #2-Place your foam cone inside your vase or goblet. The vase or goblet needs to have height and also be strong enough to hold your edible centerpiece. Make sure that your foam cone fits in securely as well.
Step #3-Take your toothpicks and insert them into your cone. You will want to space them so that your grapes will not overlap each other. Once you have gone around the cone one time you can place your grapes on top of the toothpicks. Make each row a different color of grape.
Step #4-When you have reached the top of your cone it may become difficult because the grapes will start to want to overlap. You can avoid this by cutting your toothpicks in half. When you have completed the grape tower a great idea is to place two fresh strawberries on the very top. This is kind of like a star on a Christmas tree. It looks very pretty and appetizing.
Centerpiece #2-Olive Tree
Items that you will need
1 cylinder shaped foam cone
1 vase or large goblet
Toothpicks
Floral pins
Kale
Leaf lettuce
Two types of olives
Step #1-Wash all of your produce
Step #2-Place your foam cone inside your vase or goblet. The vase or goblet needs to have height and also be strong enough to hold your edible centerpiece. Make sure that your foam cone fits in securely as well.
Step #3-Take your kale and rap it around your cone leaving space in between for your leaf lettuce. You will be holding the kale down with your toothpicks.
Step #4-Fill in the blank areas with your leaf lettuce. Note: Bunch your leaf lettuce to make it look flowery. This will give the centerpiece some dimension. Then take your floral pins to hold down your leaf lettuce.
Step #5-Add a group of 3 olives randomly throughout your centerpiece.
Step #6-Top off your centerpiece with a vegetable that matches one of your olives.
Now you have an idea on how to make edible centerpieces. They are a lot of fun and very inviting to your guests. I know that everyone is going to rant and rave at your next gathering and want to know how you did this spectacular centerpiece.
I'd like to leave you with a few more ideas that you can also do to make centerpieces. Why not make some centerpieces with some candy, cookies, or some melons? Melon centerpieces are just beautiful. Gather together some cantaloupe, watermelon, honeydew, pineapple, and even some strawberries. This would make a wonderful centerpiece for the days when everyone would like to eat something that is light. Let your imagination go to work. You can make so many different creations. I know that you are going to have a blast doing it too.
