How to Make it Easy for Kids to Keep Their Rooms Clean

Yet another challenge that all parents face daily is keeping the house clean. Every time I clean I take comfort in the fact that all other parents do it too. With a houseful of kids it can be quite difficult to really keep your house clean all the time. Kids room are the most difficult rooms of the entire house to keep clean. Kids collect things and want to keep them forever. The things multiply, I swear. Birthdays, and holidays add to their collections, to their pleasure, and to their mess.

Kids rooms are hard to keep clean because kids really don't have great organizing skills. When they own so many items they tend to lose track of them. Things get scattered and lost. When there is more stuff than there is space things become cluttered and are in a state of pure disarray.

Your house will just not totally feel clean if your kids' rooms are trashed. There are things that you can do to make it so that it is easy for your children to clean their rooms themselves.

Children over three are capable of picking up toys and putting them away. Some two year olds can! I've even seen a one year old put toys away. They are capable, but getting them to is another story. Kids rebel against many things, including putting toys away. No kid wants to clean their room when there's a big mess in it. It's a difficult task. The trick is to make it easy for them to put their things away.

It's as simple as 1,2,3. Organization. Give everything a place to go and it will get put there. Invest in containers for smaller items and sets that older kids have. Baskets work great for stuffed animals. Big toys boxes work perfectly for big toys that littler ones often have. The toys can simply be tossed into each.

For my boys room I have this bin thing. It's like a shelf but it's not. It has three bins per row, and is layered with three rows. There is a total of nine bins. In those bins go the following...Bionicles, little cars, little action guys, Legos, insects or creatures, crayons and markers and such, & cards such as baseball and Yu-Gi-Oh along with little papers that MUST be kept. There are two bins for the matchbox cars and hot wheels because they have so many. There are many types of bin storage units and they really work great. When the boys want to play with the cars they grab the car bin. When their done they put it away.

When you provide you children with a place to put their items they will put their belongings away. Their rooms will stay much neater and cleaner. It is an absolute fact. Thanks for reading!
