How to Make an Easy Lasagana

Simple Lasagna Recipe

Hot, home made lasagna is a favorite dish for almost everyone, especially teenagers and men. It's a wonderful company dinner, and it looks like you have spent a lot of time in the kitchen. But it doesn't have to be a time consuming, difficult thing to make. Here is a recipe for quick, easy, very good lasagna that will quickly become a favorite with your family and it will impress your friends. This recipe will make two good sized pans of lasagna.

Lightly brown at least two pounds of lean hamburger meat. While the meat is browning, put on a pot of water to boil, and then add the lasagna noodles according to the instructions on the box. You can buy noodles that don't have to be cooked beforehand, but I've never thought they were as good as the old fashioned kind.

Once your meat is brown, add two large jars of Ragu Spaghetti Sauce to the meat and mix well. Again, there are other brands you can buy, but our family thinks Ragu is the best, and my husband especially can tell the difference if I use anything else. I usually buy the traditional sauce, but I've used the four cheese kind before too, and no one seems to notice. If you can't find Ragu, Del Monte Spaghetti Sauce is another good brand.

Once the meat and noodles are done, cover the bottom of the pan with the noodles in a single layer. On top of this, spread a thin layer of ricotta cheese. Then spread a layer of the meat and sauce mixture. On top of the meat mixture, sprinkle cheddar and mozzarella cheese. It is very important not to skimp on the cheese. This is what makes or breaks the taste of the lasagna.

Add another single layer of noodles. Skip the ricotta cheese this time and add another layer of the meat and sauce mixture, and then another layer of cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Then sprinkle parmesan cheese liberally on top of that.

Set the oven to 350 degrees and cook for twenty minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly. Put on the table hot, and add a fresh green salad with Italian dressing and lots of croutons, and some freshly baked or store bought, hot garlic bread. Invite all your friends and watch them rave over your talent for cooking!

I love lasagna, but don't make it as often as I'd like (probably a good thing). Have you ever tried mixing the meat with the ricotta and layer the sauce separately? Also, if you add more sauce and cook a little longer, you don't have to cook even the regular lasagna noodles (I wrote an article about lasagna a while back too).
