How to Make Easy Yummy Baked Apples

WHEN YOU DON`T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THOSE LEFTOVER APPLES, ON A COLD WINTERS DAY, EVERYONE IN THE FAMILY WILL LOVE THESE BAKED APPLES.

1/2 CUP FIRMLY PACKED DARK BROWN SUGAR
1/2 TSP. GROUND GINGER
4 TBSP. BUTTER, SOFTENED
1/4 CUP FINELY CHOPPED PECANS OR WALNUTS
2 TBSP. RAISINS
4 LARGE GOLDEN DELICIOUS OR OTHER BAKING APPLES,PEELED

PREHEAT OVEN TO 350
MIX BROWN SUGAR,GINGER,AND BUTTER IN A SMALL BOWL.STIR IN NUTS AND RAISINS AND SET ASIDE.
CORE APPLES,MAKING SURE THE HOLE IS BIG ENOUGH TO ACCOMMODATE PLENTY OF THE FILLING,BUT BEING CAREFUL NOT TO CUT THROUGH THE BOTTOM OF THE APPLE.PLACE APPLES IN A SHALLOW BAKING PAN JUST LARGE ENOUGH TO HOLD THEM COMFORTABLY.
SPOON BROWN SUGAR MIXTURE INTO APPLES,MOUNDING SLIGHTLY AT THE TOP,IF NECESSARY. BAKE FOR 50-60 MINUTES OR UNTIL APPLES ARE FORK TENDER.

TOPPING SAUCE
1 CUP WHIPPING CREAM
2 TBSP. DARK BROWN SUGAR
WHILE APPLES ARE BAKING,BRING CREAM AND BROWN SUGAR TO A SIMMER IN A SMALL SAUCE PAN.
COOK OVER MEDIUM-LOW HEAT,STIRRING FREQUENTLY,UNTIL THICK,ABOUT 20 MINUTES. SERVE WARM OR CHILLED.REMOVE APPLES FROM OVEN. SERVE WARM OR CHILLED WITH CREAM TOPPING.
