How to Eat a Banana - Learn How to Correctly Eat a Banana

If you are an average person, you have probably never taken the time to consider the "how" when eating a banana. Most of us simply think that eating a banana means peeling the outer skin and biting off the inside flesh until the banana is simply an empty skin which can be tossed in the trash can. Well, that is definitely one way to eat a banana.

If you feel like being a bit more dignified, you could peel and then slice your banana and eat it with a fork. This approach works well for small children, as well. But, what other ways can we use the bunch of bananas that is constantly sitting on our counters? We definitely don't want to have wasted our money and let the bunch just sit there and turn brown.

Some foods are difficult to preserve for any extensive period of time; bananas are one of them. If you buy a bunch of bananas and forget to eat them in the first two weeks, you will probably find some very brown or possibly black bananas sitting on your counter. This can be frustrating. So, how can you preserve or use the bananas other than just simply peeling and eating them?

Dehydration is an easy way to preserve a banana. When you dehydrate a banana, whether in a dehydrator or an oven, the moisture is removed from the banana slices. This evaporation of moisture concentrates the sugar. The end product is a brittle banana slice that is very sweet. These banana "chips" make wonderful snacks and are a convenient way to eat a banana.

Bananas can also be frozen for preservation. You won't want to thaw a frozen banana and attempt to eat it in the traditional manner, however. Frozen bananas tend to become mushy when thawed. This makes frozen bananas perfect for baking or milk shakes. Bananas can be frozen in the skin or out of the skin, too. Wonderful desserts can be created with the frozen banana concept. Simply dip a skinned banana in melted chocolate and toss it on a piece of wax paper in the freezer. These are delicious frozen treats for both children and adults.

If you are tired of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch, try a banana. Banana jelly is not found on the shelf of a grocery store. We may never know why. But, bananas pair up wonderfully with peanut butter. A delicious and easy way to eat a banana is between two slices of bread accompanied by peanut butter. The banana can be either mashed or sliced, depending on personal preference.

Of course, bananas are a staple in many fruit salads. They brighten up the salad while giving it a taste and texture that everyone enjoys. Banana bread, banana muffins and banana cakes are delicious and nutritious ways to enjoy eating a banana.

Next time you sit down and begin to peel a banana, consider if that is really the best way to enjoy such a unique fruit. By the way, did you know that bananas grow up instead of down on the tree? It's true! Take some time now to enjoy eating the versatile and delicious banana.

I love bananas! I eat one every morning for breakfast. I slice it into a bowl and add mango, chopped apples, and pineapple chunks. Bananas are also a good headache and leg cramp remedy because of their potassium content. Great job!
