Step One
Take your pomegranate and place it sideways (with the top facing to the right) on a cutting board away from any walls (as the juice might splatter). Be sure to wear clothes that you don't mind getting stained just in case.
Step Two
Slice the top of the pomegranate off using a small sharp knife. You'll want to cut at least a half inch away from the top to ensure you get all of the membrane off. You'll know if you cut far enough if you see the pomegranate has six sections.
Step Three
Mark each section as you would a pizza and slice all the way down. This will make it easy to pull them apart.
Step Four
Pull each section apart so they are no longer part of the full pomegranate. Instead you'll now have six separation sections.
Step Five
Fill a bowl of water almost to the top.
Step Six
Take one section at a time, turn upside down so the pomegranate seeds are pointing towards the water and start to pick out the seeds so they drop into the water. If you accidentally get some of the membrane in the water, that's okay. All you have to do is scoop those pieces out of the water with a spoon when you're done. The pomegranate seeds should drop to the bottom of the water making it easy to get the membrane.
Step Seven
Use a colander and the pour the mixture to drain the water. You should be left with only the pomegranate seeds at this point. Simply pour into a bowl and enjoy with a spoon!
Tips:
- Pomegranates are a great snack but they can also be used in salads, yogurt, and even in dessert.
- According to Pom Wonderful, the pomegranate seeds can be placed in the refrigerator for up to seven days. Just make sure you place them in a sealed container first.

Post a CommentWear your grungy clothes because they stain, I love them :)
I have never seen pomegranates (other than in a picture), but I have drank pomegranate juice. I was in Costco one day and went to get a bottle. Two old ladies were standing there talking about the juice. I said, "This is really good for you." One lady said, "I know. It's supposed to make you live forever." I told her I didn't know about that but I drink a glass every morning. The other lady said, "If I had to drink a glass of that every morning, I'd rather be dead! It tastes awful." I don't care much for the taste either.
Thanks for the infor. I love pomegranates, but I do not see them in the stores too often.
Love pomagranates but they are a task!!!
Very useful, This is quite an art. Great job
My mother used to love them. I think they are too much work for me! I know the racoons eat them.
That is good information, thanks.
