How to eat healthy but still eat what you love (guide and ideas)
Many Americans nationwide make that New Years resolution that most find impossible to keep,to lose weight and change their eating habits. With the hustle and bustle of our fast paced lives, indeed it does seem to be easier to order a pizza or grab something from a local burger place. After much deliberation and a little bit of research plus my own variations I wanted to share some interesting facts about some foods you love and how you can still enjoy them without feeling guilty.

Moderation and serving size is the key to anything that you eat. There are six types of nutrients found in foods, protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals and water and yes, we do need all six for our bodies to fully function properly. We have been told that skipping breakfast is bad for you, well in fact that is right. You should eat something for breakfast everyday, even if it's just a piece of fruit, breakfast jump starts your metabolism for the day.If you skip a meal then your brain will feel deprived as well as your body and when you do eat you eat more than you should causing many people to overeat the wrong kinds of foods.

Let's start with carbohydrates, many of us love that big bowl of pasta with juicy meatballs.Every once in awhile there is nothing wrong with that, carbohydrates give your body energy but overdoing it is where the problem lies.Making your own food instead of going out to eat you can reduce the calories you intake.Make your meatballs from ground turkey or ground chicken instead of ground beef or if you do use ground beef use low fat or fat free,it won't change the taste, although many people are scared to try variations, what could it really hurt.I do have a alternative pasta dish that is healthier and tastes great.Cook up about 2 boneless skinless chicken breast (cut in chunks) in a skillet or wok with just about 2 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil,add garlic, salt & pepper, cut up one medium onion and one bell pepper add to chicken, cook up your favorite long pasta after cooked and drained add to chicken and peppers with low fat or fat free Italian dressing. It is a sure to please and very tasty dish.

Love that yummy juicy steak?Well you can have it,just take your portions down.A smaller steak such as a fillet mignon is just as satisfying and offers you the same protein that your body needs. We usually buy two fairly good sized fillet mignons and cut them in half making them thinner and for four of us it's just perfect.Don't forget our bodies need protein and amino acids to rebuild tissues that are constantly being destroyed.Great foods other than good ol' steaks that are high in protein are nuts, fish, beans and dairy products such as cheese and yogurt.

If you are like me and thousands of other people you love a good pizza. So what is that has got society in such an uproar? Is it the greasy, over cheesy, high calorie factor?Well commonly the normal dietary caloric intake is around 2,500 calories and one slice of delivery meat topping pizza is about 900 calories. How about this, you can easily reduce your calories by about 200 a slice, you just have to make it yourself. There are many variations of store bought pizza crust so to me they are basically all the same and I usually opt for the easiest.Jarred pizza sauce is always readily available and easy to come by.The different ideas that I do have and have used myself are, turkey pepperoni, buy the smallest package they have, low fat or fat free ground beef, low fat or fat free mozzarella cheese and veggies.Another alternative is pita, chicken alfredo pizza. You simply take packaged low fat pitas you can buy either white or wheat, top with a white cream sauce, you can buy jarred or make your own,add fresh well rinsed spinach and top pieces of cooked chicken breast.

French fries a addiction for many not just here in the United States but worldwide. This well loved popular side dish seemed to take quite a beating by health fanatics. In the past french fries were always cooked in lard or oil that contained an alarming amount of saturated fats, leading to high cholesterol and weight gain.Lately many restaurants have switched to using different variations of oils that contain trans fat lowering cholesterol intake by about half.Although making it healthier by doing this french fries should always be eaten in moderation, ordering smaller amounts would be just enough to satisfy that craving.

Low fat or fat free is a alternative to many dishes, you can buy ground beef, cheeses, milk, most sauces used in several dishes can also be bought or made with lesser calories. There are many alternatives to eating healthier with less calories you just have to look and using light or lowfat or even fat free products would bea big help. Reading nutrition values on packing products and eating the serving size is there for a reason and should be followed.Eating lots of fruits, vegetables and drinking plenty of water will help to fill any hunger void and give you plenty of your vitamins and minerals. Here's to a healthier way to look at the foods you eat and be satisfied.
