One very good piece of advice I can offer is to invest in business cards. Those little babies will come in handy! Keep them in your car, your purse and everywhere you go. They are great to leave behind where you have been. Some examples are restrooms and restaurant tables. It was even suggested to me to put one inside the bills I paid. I thought that was pretty clever! You never know who may be interested in your services. Some places of business will let you put your business cards on their counters. You can ask around and find out. Some businesses will even let you put some brochures on their table.
Getting the word out about your business doesn't have to be costly. In fact, most of the suggestions in this article are free! You don't have to spend the big bucks to advertise. A great way to get the word out about your business is using community bulletin boards. Stores, gas stations and even post offices have a board specifically for people to advertise. You definitely need to take advantage of those opportunities.
Of course nothing beats the good old word of mouth. If you treat your customers well they will let others know. The same goes for treating customers bad. Word of mouth is probably the best advertising you will generate.
Most home based businesses such as Mary Kay, Avon, etc. will provide you with your own website. If your business is not that kind of business then you may want to consider creating your own website. People love to do business from the comfort of their own home. If they can do all of their business at home and have the product delivered to their home all the better. A website is something to consider. You can even look into doing a blog. Most blogs are free and won't cost you a thing to set up.
A good way to get the word out fast about your home based business is to send out an email to everyone in your contact list. You can explain your business and tell your contacts what it can do for them. Give them ways they can contact you. They won't know about your business until you tell them. You may be just what they have been looking for!
If you use a Social Networking site such as Facebook or MySpace you can share with all of your friends about your new business. This is a great tool to reach a lot of people at one time. You can even Twitter about your business!
Most email programs will let you add a signature to all of your outgoing emails. This is a great way to advertise your business with every email you send.
As you can see there are several inexpensive and free ways you can advertise your home business. Print this off and get started in the morning with getting the word out about your awesome business!
