Cats are considerably one of the best house pets to have around. They are almost synonymous to dogs when it comes to seeking attention and love. These feline mammals are highly treasured by people for their excellent vermin hunting skilss and for being devoted companions. Suspense writer Edgar Allan Poe is one of the famous cat lovers. His cat, Catterina, served as his wife's bed-warmer during the winter season when the couple experienced abject poverty. The cat remained living with them until the couple both passed away. However, the flip side is that owners are compelled to provide care for these house pets whose urine odors and stains are foul-smelling and stomach-churning.

The feline domesticated mammal's urine emits a powerful and nasty smell. These animals have a natural pattern of protective markings. They try to shield their territories by leaving urine. This defensive pattern is called spraying. Cats ditch their scent in almost every part of the house. Cats' urine is designed for territorial purposes or to show fretfulness over some external changes. It may feel pressure or anxiety over some things like strange faces or new house guests, dogs and other house pets, transfer of house, new house fixture or equipment, bladder infection, other sickness and soiled litter box. To better handle the extreme odor of cat's urine, owners need to understand how to eliminate urine and stains. Here are a few tips:

A home remedy for eradicating cat urine smell and scent is by using vinegar and baking soda. The initial step is to wipe up the area and combine 2/3 cup of water, soap and 1/3 cup of vinegar. Then douse the section with pee or stains. Get a clean rag and scrub the area until it feels slightly damp and near dry. Repeat the procedure and get another cloth or rag to wipe the remaining liquid mixture. Distribute small amount of baking soda on the stained section. The last step is to wait for 1 whole day and use vacuum cleaner to entirely wipe down the place.

Another home treatment to stamp out cat smell is to use mouthwash or gargling solution. Combine a little amount of mouthwash, preferably Listerine with vinegar and water. Wipe the surface with the solution. Listerine is preferred because of its large content of alcohol.

Carpet stained with cat urine may be cleaned with the use of peroxide. Place a little amount of hydrogen peroxide on the stained surface. Let it remain on the area until it dries. Douse the area with warm water then swab with a clean rag.

For cat poop, get a paper towel to pick up the cat feces. Wash the area with water and detergent. Rinse and wipe with a rag or paper towel until dry. Use enzymatic cleaners to eradicate bacteria.
