How to Enhance Reiki Treatment by Using Aromatherapy

As a Reiki Master for the past four years, I have found that it is helpful to tailor one's practice to fit the needs being presented at the time. Reiki, on its own, is quite powerful. Yet, I have realized there's nothing wrong with incorporating other elements that emphasize the focus of one's intentions. Built into the framework of traditional Usui Reiki, we find symbols that are taught during the second and third levels that are used primarily to focus the energy and healing intentions of both the practitioner and the recipient.

Although, I find the symbols of Reiki helpful in focusing on a specific area that needs healing, I have started to incorporate aromatherapy, as well. For instance, there's a client of mine, who tends to have a lot of sinus problems, especially during the Fall and Winter months. I started using peppermint oil mixed with a carrier oil on my hands while I hover over her face, so she can inhale the healing properties of the peppermint oil for her sinuses and at the same time, the healing energy of Reiki is working on healing her sinuses.

At one point during our most recent session, she mentioned having neck and shoulders issues, so still using the peppermint oil, which is also great for muscle relaxation, I placed my hands directly on her neck and shoulders to allow the oil to get to her muscles while the Reiki did its work as well.

She always give me wonderful reports of more relaxed muscles and her sinuses feeling a lot better. So you see, you can incorporate aromatherapy into your practice to strengthens the potency of the healing benefits for your client. In addition, this method is great to use in your self-treatments.

Aromatherapy can be done while using Reiki in other ways. For instance, you can use a diffuser in the room where you're doing the treatment. You can even use incense sticks or cones as a form of aromatherapy while practicing Reiki on yourself and others. Be creative with your Reiki practice. Try to use a variety of aromatherapy to enhance your practice. Try unscented lotion with several drops of essential oil that promotes healing in the area you're focusing your intentions, put it on your hands, and hover or lay your hands directly on the area of the client. Another wonderful form of aromatherapy are wax candles pieces that you can melt and release the scents and regular aromatherapy-scented candles with wicks.

Enjoy this new way to enhance the focus of your Reiki treatments.
