You know it's going to be hot and sweaty if you spend a lot of time outside celebrating the 4th of July. If you have a pool this works more in your favor. I would suggest you have a water balloon fight. Also, I probably would fill the balloons before the guests arrive but you should remind the guests to bring a change of clothing. Can you imagine the look on your guests face when they see you dragging out the big bag of balloons? The guests are probably thinking, "Oh I hope we are not having road kill for dinner". Also, the guests could get involve with filling the water balloons. Furthermore, you can add to the fun by having a competition and giving way prizes and have competitions. What kind of competitions? You can start the first annual 4th of July balloon competition at your home and have an annual competition. Can you imagine how thrilled your guest will be to hold the first title for "The Most Water Balloons to the Tushy"?
Well, if you think that filling balloons are too time consuming or you get busy barbecuing then you can take the water gun route. Or, you can combine water balloons and water guns. It doesn't matter because someone is getting wet! The water guns are a big hit with kids. If you decide to let the kids play with the water guns then don't turn your back on them. You are bound to become a target and may need to run for cover.
Moreover, if you run out of choices then you can take the party to your local park and watch the 4th of July firework display. I'm sure the city will bring out the works for their annual firework display. Also, I would only try these methods only on people who enjoy joking and acting silly. Most important, you will have a blast of a time entertaining your love ones. You should be very careful when attempting these methods because you may have to host the 4th of July barbecue every year.
