Let's first take the "stop and smell the roses" saying literally. It's a profound statement in a few words. By slowing down we can enjoy the small things again. In the business world we're given a lunch hour. The concept was to take this hour to refresh and renew. By slowing down your pace, and taking deep cleansing breaths frequently, you will begin to notice the roses again.
Perhaps you've set unrealistic expectations of yourself. Think about the worse that will happen if the expectation is not met. Unrealistic expectations set us up for failure. Think of areas in your life where you can lower your expectations and still be happy with yourself.
There are things in life that catch us by surprise; when this happens we become reactive. When we're in a reactive mode we may not make rational decisions. By becoming proactive you will have a plan, a best and worst case scenario to a situation. Think about tasks and events in advance. Being proactive eliminates problems before they arise.
Does your attitude need adjusting? Surely life would be more enjoyable with a positive outlook. A positive attitude empowers us to approach every situation with expectations of a good outcome.
Life is wonderful and the world has so much to offer. By using these techniques, your life should quickly take a turn for the better.
