How to Enjoy St. Augustine for Under $100

If you are looking for a nice, inexpensive weekend away St. Augustine, Florida has plenty to offer. I recently went for two days to see how much I could do for under $100 and still have an amazing time. My self-imposed budget included my sleeping accommodations, parking, food and one tour.

For $28.00 I had a nice little campsite at Anastasia State Park. The site was about ½ mile from the beach, concession and Wi-Fi area and about a mile from kayak and windsurfing rentals.

My cooler was loaded down with food for the two days with a total cost of $26.38. Some basic staples such as condiments and bread were from my refrigerator and are not included in the cost.

Day one was spent poking around the beach and relaxing ocean side with a good book so there was no more money spent that day

Day two I had breakfast and went for an early morning run on the beach and then traveled about 10 minutes to the St. Augustine Lighthouse. For $9.99 I purchased a ticket to tour the grounds solo and spent a little over an hour wandering the grounds and climbing the stairs to the top of the lighthouse.

After the Lighthouse I rode another few minutes into town and parked in the parking garage at a cost of $1.25 per hour. From there I just wandered around town for about 3 hours. I visited the St. Augustine Cathedral Basilica at no cost, walked around the outside of Flagler College and Castillo de San Marcos, walked to the Bridge of Lions and traveled through the little shops in the hub of the tourist area on and around St. George St. Then stopped for a light lunch at the Milltop Tavern and spent $15.

My stay was over at a total cost of $83.12. A trip to St. Augustine would really not be complete without a ghost tour but since I had been there before and already taken one I opted out of it this trip. However, for around $15 you can get a walking ghost tour and that would put you at $98.12, still under $100.
