How to Enjoy the Summer on a Budget

While many families may be planning their cruises and long awaited Disneyland trips, those who are low income end up having a bummer summer. I want to show you how to maximize your summer fun, on the cheap! If you are one of many low income families of today's society you already know how summer seems to be one of your costliest seasons; after all you can get toys donated from toys for tots for Christmas, nobody pays your way to go to Orlando Florida. And yet, all you want, is to enjoy yourself and have fun with the kids, right?

You don't have to just settle for the one day trip at the shore, you can fill your summer with many eventful activities all summer long for very little! My first suggestion is to keep your eyes peeled on both Regal Cinemas and the AMC Theaters. In late June, they both start their family movie days. Regal Cinemas is called Free Family Film Festival. They play two G/PG rated movies back to back on Tuesdays and Wends mornings starting late June and ending in Mid August. They may change the days around so be sure to check with regal Cinemas for this summers schedule. The best part about Regal Cinemas Free Family Film Festival is it is completely FREE! Yes, there is no cost to watch the movies, sit in ice cool air conditioning and give the kids some kid friendly entertainment!

If the movies don't have you singing for joy maybe my next idea will. There are tons of free events in your own community. Keep your eyes peeled on local papers, flyers and event signs in your community. Many churches have fairs and festivals which usually offer free admission and inexpensive games for kids to play. There are also free concerts in parks and community celebrations which are usually open to the public and free.

Speaking of parks, depending on the ages of your children, you can enjoy a fun filled day at the park. Simply make sandwiches, pack up some water and juices, grab the sunscreen and go have a day at the park. Invite friends and make it a fun filled day for everyone. The teenagers shoot hoops, the kids play on the playground and you get time to socialize or even read a book cover to cover if you went solo! Best part, when you get home everyone is so tired they fall asleep the minute their heads hit the pillows.

Just because you don't have wads of cash this summer, doesn't mean your stuck at home! As a matter of fact, you could just be taking those much needed vacation days and actually feel like your on a vacation!
