Summer time is great time for summer fun and family picnics. This article is written to help you have a safe one. Being outdoors is great but you need to take precautions so you have a safe one.

Shady place

Whether your in your own backyard or a public place find a place with plenty of shade. Its impossible to stay completely out of the sun but you should set up your picnic area away from the suns harmful rays. There is always a lot of activities at a family picnic but you need to get out of the sun periodically. Its essential to find a nice place to have your picnic.

Sunblock

You will want to take advantage of any activities at your picnic so make sure you have adequate sun block. Your sunblock should be a PH factor 15 or better. Anything less you will burn and you could damage your skin. No matter if you are old or young over exposure to the sun can have serious effects later. If you plan on going swimming buy a sunblock thats waterproof.

Insect fogger and repellent

Use an insect fogger or use insect repellent on yourself and others. Before the picnic spray around the picnic area to keep away flies and mosquitoes. Watch for any stuff with sugar in it spilling cause this will attract ants, bees, and flies. Make sure you wipe up any spills as soon as you can. This will keep any unwanted bugs from ruining your picnic.

Bring a first aid kit

If someone is allergic to bees make sure you bring a first aid kit. Anyone allergic to bees should bring a anti-venom for bee stings. If your away from home kids can suffer from scrapes and cuts while having fun so its a good idea to bring a first aid kit. Not just kids either but just in case of an emergency its a good idea to be prepared.

Set up picnic area away from the grill or barbecue pit

Keep your distance from the grilling area or pit just in case a fire breaks out. You don't want a crowd of people sitting to close to the grill in case something happens. There should be a person attending or watching the grill at all times. You never know when an accident can happen. Bring a water jug or fire extinguisher for those unforeseen fire flare ups. Its better to be safe than sorry.

If you have a picnic make sure you take precautions so nothing can spoil your family fun.
