How to Entertain Your Children on Long Journeys

This article is about how to keep your children entertained on long journeys. I know form experience that it is hard to keep children still for long and to keep them busy and entertained while they are in the car for so long.

Me and my husband this spring took my two brothers to his cousin's house which is only maybe 150 miles from our home. It was hard to keep them occupied for 3 hours.

What you have to do before you go on one of these long journey's with your children is to plan what you are going to do to keep them busy for however long you are in the car. Sing songs, play movies, play games whatever the case maybe you have to have it planned before you set foot on the open road.

This summer, me and my husband are planning on taking my two brothers to Lusby, Maryland for a vacation. For us to travel from Hammondsville, Ohio to Lusby, Maryland is about 400 miles one way. Now I have it planned right now to have my brother's take along their Game-boy's and their Nintendo DS's and their portable DVD players so they do not get bored the whole way down there.

With all the little gadgets out in the world today, there are a lot things out there that can keep children busy in the car. Such as, if your child is little and cannot play game systems, you can take along coloring books and crayons or colored pencils. Make sure you always have a notebook full of paper in case they run out of things to color. That way they can draw and color on the notebook paper.

You could always come up with games you will play before going on the trip, an example would be I see a color game or making a sentence out of license plates you see. Also a good game to play is how many different license plates can you find or see.

You could also count how many red lights you stop at on the way to you destination. How many stop signs and so on and so forth. There are many types of games you can play on the road.

There are also all sorts of songs you can sing on the way to your destination also. All songs will do basically. It does not matter what song it is just as long as you are keeping your children busy that is all that matter.

So no matter where you are going on a vacation, it is always good to be prepared before going on what activities you will need to do and want to do before anything else is planned.
