Maybe you're one of these people, and don't even know it.
Some people sit in their houses all day. These people will usually feel depressed, and disconnected from the rest of the world. They usually think that the depression is normal, and that there's not much they can do about it.
I personally have a difficult time experiencing this effect because I constantly must be around other people, get some light, and get out of the house. I can't stand sitting in a house all day.
However, if you've ever sat in a house all day, you've probably experienced this. Pregnant mothers, or mothers who have recently had children typically will experience an effect similar to this because they aren't able to leave the house often for long periods of time.
There are several ways to eliminate these feelings of lonliness, depression, and emptiness.
Get Some Light!
One of the number one reasons why people get depressed is because they lack a decent amount of light exposure. People need UV light to stimulate their brain. It keeps us happy and releases dopamine. People want dopamine! Theoretically, the more light we get, the happier we will be.
Public.
Get yourself out into the world! The best way to feel connected and cared about is to get out, get some fresh air, and go somewhere! Go to the mall, meet people. Go bowling. Go to your local park. Getting fresh air outside of the house, especially around other people will be a great aid to your down-mood.
Family.
Get in touch with your family. A lot of depressed people don't feel as if they're important in their family. Of course this doesn't apply to short term types of depression, but anyone. If you feel like you're not connecting with your family, do it! Call them. Go see them. Do whatever it would take, whether you think it'll turn out well or not.
Do Something.
If all else fails, you can't leave the house, and you don't feel like getting ahold of your family... DO SOMETHING! Don't sit in bed all day. Don't wait all day making excuses for your favorite tv show to come on. Do something constructive. Work at home. Clean the house. Get online and talk to people. Anything besides moping around will help.
