Over the years, I have dabbled in poetry, and won several contests, I have contributed a vast amount of content to various websites, I have collaborated with many unique individuals on their web pages, and I have submitted several articles to my local newspaper. I have grown as a writer, and I am constantly improving on my writing style. The sad reality is I depend on my writing to generate an income and that means often times I end up writing a review of a product or comparing products. I must admit, I don't really enjoy writing reviews. I find reviews to be most boring, and they don't get a lot of page views.
When I first downloaded e-speaking voice recognition software for my computer I had such high hopes for this program. I envisioned the possibilities of dictating my articles to my computer and having it type the finished product for me. It sounds simple right?
Ugh! I have had nothing but issues with e-speaking! I have completed countless lessons and tutorials, I have spent hours working with the program trying to get the hang of it. After nearly two weeks I have given up. I am defeated, e-speakings voice recognition is about the most useless software available for a computer.
Here is what I did not like about e-speakings. The most simple words are not understood. If I say "I have been..." the computer types "In the under the water." It is not even similar to what I have dictated. I speak quite clearly as it is, but I must sound like an idiot when I attempt to dictate to my computer, I end up disgusted and disappointed every time.
E-speaking has not simplified the writing process for me. I spend three times as much time just trying to dictate to the computer, then I end up going over my work and making hundreds of corrections. I wanted to share my opinion of this program with anyone who is considering the free download. It is not worth it! Despite the price of free.
I guess I will have to just suck it up and keep typing away, as this voice recognition program does not work for me.
If anyone has any info or thoughts on other programs that are similar to e-speakings please message me and fill me in! If I could find a better voice recognition program, I could share much higher quality of work, as I write for several sites and finding time to write and submit great articles every day is a challenge... and I am sick of pushing out product reviews.

Post a CommentE-speaking is not for dictation. It is used to deliver voice commands. The SAPI technology is for dictation. If you turn on e-speaking, it's only going to confuse the dictation. Turn off e-speaking, turn on Vista speech, then dictate.
Otherwise, e-speaking is one of best programs on the market for voice command. I use it to flawlessly operate quite a few programs on my laptop.
I think your comment is a bit funny- especially as a tech editor. Isn't the speech recognition part of SAPI (Speech Application Program Interface) which is delivered by Microsoft? The program e-speaking is a "gateway" to that library. As a heavy PC user I have been having some RSI issues and have downloaded e-speaking this last week and I think it is awesome! I can surf hands free. I have not used it to dictate Word/emails yet but to be honest even there my hopes are not too high. But surfing the web hands free for hours is great!
