How to Make Extra Money by Taking Surveys

If you want to make money taking surveys, the most important thing to realize that you will not get rich quick, or get rich at all. However, if you learn a few easy rules, you can make some extra spending (or saving) money pretty easily.

Surveys are great for people who do not have the time or ability to spend that time earning more money by working a job. Students, disabled people, and stay at home moms can especially benefit. Almost any job will give you a much bigger payout for the same time input, so don't look to surveys as an alternative to a job. But surveys fit much better into a busy schedule. If you are busy one day, you have no obligation to take any. And if you have several hours of free time, you can take as many paying surveys as you want. Surveys can also be fun, interesting, and relaxing. A twenty-minute survey can be a great study break and earn you five dollars at the same time.

When looking for paying surveys, it is important to find the right companies. There are many websites out there that promise you will make hundreds of dollars a day taking surveys. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Any company that wants you to pay anything to sign up is also a scam. Companies pay us to take surveys because they need our opinions for their market research. We should never pay them; we are doing work for them.

The best way to start is to search for online forums where people post about different survey companies. I like www.online-sweepstakes.com and www.slickdeals.net. Check in the survey section of the freebie forums. Experienced survey takers list some of the best companies and surveys and will help you avoid scams.

Once you find some good companies and become adept at avoiding scams, you can start working out your own survey schedule. You will need to decide for yourself how little you are willing to be paid for each survey. Some surveys will only offer a chance to win money, some will offer product tests, and others will pay in points for prizes, money, or gift certificates.

One last important thing to keep in mind is that you never know what happens with the information you put out there. A survey may seem legitimate at first glance, but if it asks for too much personally identifying information it is always better to be safe than sorry and quit out of the survey.
