How to Have a Family Fun Easter

CRAFT MATERIALS:Disposable clear plastic icing bags Orange jelly beans Scissors Green tissue paper Twist ties
Time needed: Under 1 Hour
1. Fill an icing bag with orange jelly beans, leaving at least 3 inches unfilled at the top.

2. Cut out two 8-inch squares of green tissue paper and lay one on top of the other.

3. Pick up the squares from the center and give them a little twist so you have a cone-shaped carrot top.

4. Place the tissue, twisted end down, into the bag.

5. Gather the bag at the top of the jelly beans and secure with a twist tie, wrapping the tie around the "stem" of the tissue paper, so the greenery sticks out of the top.

This clutch of cheery chicks can serve as a tweet springtime greeting or as a place card for an Easter dinner guest. CRAFT MATERIALS:Green card stock Orange card stock Glue 3/4-inch yellow pom-poms Black seeds

Time needed: 30 Minutes or Less 1. First, make a fold about 3 ½ inches from one short end of a 6- by 9-inch piece of green card stock. Fold the paper again, in the opposite direction, about 2 inches from the other end, as shown.

2. Trim the shorter flap to resemble grass, then write a springtime greeting or a guest's name across the top of the card.

3. Glue on baby chicks using ¾-inch yellow pom-poms for the bodies and ½-inch pom-poms for the heads. Then glue on black seed bead eyes and tiny beaks cut from a piece of folded orange card stock.

Chickadee Card

When it comes to hatching one of these Easter cards, the egg decidedly comes before the chicken. CRAFT MATERIALS:White poster board Yellow construction paper Scissors Colored markers Glue Paper fastener

Time needed: Under 1 Hour 1. To make the eggshell, cut a pair of matching ovals, one for the front and one for the back, from the white poster board (the shells shown here are 5 inches high).

2. Cut a simple chick from the yellow construction paper, making sure that it will fit within the dimensions of the egg. Use the colored markers to draw on eyes and a beak.

3. Center the chick on one of the white ovals and glue it in place.

4. Cut off the upper third of the other oval with a zigzag line that looks like a crack. Glue the bottom piece onto the chick, matching up the edges with the back oval, as pictured.

5. Lay the top piece of the cracked shell over the chick's head, but do not glue it in place. Instead, use the paper fastener to attach a lower corner to the rest of the egg (it should work like a hinge).

6. Finally, add your Easter greeting to the front or the back of the egg.

Kids can celebrate the Easter season by sprouting their own pairs of rabbit ears (and noses and tails). CRAFT MATERIALS:Egg carton Scissors Pink crayon Headband Glue gun

Time needed: Under 1 Hour1. Use scissors to cut out ear shapes from the edges of the egg carton top.

2. Color the insides of the ears with pink crayon.

3. Finsih by gluing the ears to a headband with the glue gun.

Tips:
To become bedecked in all-out bunny gear, make matching bunny noses and tails. To make a nose, cut a cup from an egg carton, leaving a tab of extra material on one side for teeth. Trim the cup's edges and paint the teeth white, drawing a black gap between them. Glue on a pom-pom nose. For whiskers, cut pipe cleaners into three pieces. Poke three holes on either side of the nose with a pencil, then feed the pipe cleaner whiskers through the holes. Make air vents with a hole punch along the cup's bottom. Keep the nose on tight with an elastic knotted through holes poked in the cup's sides. For a tail, form cotton batting into a tail and sew a length of yarn through it with an embroidery needle. Then tie it around your waist.

What you need:

Paper Plate
Brown paint
Craft Paper
Black or green raffia
Scissor
Glue

What you do:

Paint paper plate brown and let dry. Cut circle out of pink craft paper and glue it to the paper plate. Draw and cut two long ears out of brown craft paper. Have children cut the bunny's eyes, nose and teeth out of craft paper. Glue on plate. For the whiskers cut raffia into small pieces and glue them on the bunny's face.
