How to Make a Fancy Christmas Ornament Out of a Pop Can

If you like to make your own ornaments, but do not feel like customizing a pre made Christmas bulb, you can take an aluminum can, and turn it into a snazzy ornaments that you can hang on your Christmas tree. This crafts can be done with your children or by yourself. They can either be a costume picture, or a recreation of the cans original logo made with glitter. They make great gifts for your loved ones, and can really get visitors talking.

The first and most simple of these crafts is the can ornament. This is made out of an old can that used to hold your favorite drink, some glitter, or sequins, glue and a paper clip. A good can to use for this is Coca-Cola, because it is already red and looks nice on a tree. The first thing you need to do is scrape down the parts you want to put glitter on. This can be done buy taking a piece of sand paper and scraping the outside of the can a little. Now put glue on all of the parts that are the same color, you will want to pick the color that is the most prevalent, and roll the can in that color glitter.

Once you have done that wait for the can to dry, and shake off any excess glitter then choose another color and put glue on all of those parts of the can. This time you will want to sprinkle the glitter on rather then roll your can in it. That way you will not have the wrong color glitter in the wrong space. After you have sprinkled the glitter on you will want to pat the places that you have put the new glitter on to make sure it sticks. Then wait for it to dry and repeat the process.

After you have put as much glitter on as you want, you will want to be able to hang the thing from your tree. If the pull top is still on the can, you can take a paper clip and make yourself a hook to hang it from the tree. Just bend it to shape, and loop it into the aluminum cans pop top to hang it. If your can has lost its pop top you will need to take a paper clip and bend it into a loop so that it will go into the open part and wedge into place with two extensions holding it from the bottom. Then take a second paper clip and make a hook with it, and loop the first one to the second one to make the can an ornament.
